Les Editions du Griffon is opening a new space within its historical location in Neuchâtel. The new “window” is called Galerie du Griffon and will be a versatile place for work, exhibitions and encounters. The official inauguration to the public will take place on November 8th at 6:30pm.

For this special occasion, the visitors will be able to attend to the signature of Pierre Yves Gabus autobiographical work “L’homme en Noir ou le roman du renard” at Editions du Griffon. His story reveals little-known facets of his personality and presents his life course in the world of art and antiques from here and elsewhere. His unpublished cut-and-paste illustrations illustrate the work, complemented by an exhaustive list of his exhibitions and auctions.

Les-Editions-du-Griffon

The location of Les Editions du Griffon and now this new gallery, has a great interest as it is placed in the historical building of the edition house. It has been 50 years that Les Editions du Griffon occupy this very interesting concrete cube in the heights of Serrières in Neuchâtel.

This concrete cube of 400 M2, very discreetly implanted in the city will have several vocations:

  • Offices of the Griffon Editions.
  • Exhibition venue to promote Griffon activities
  • Bookshop of Editions du Griffon.
  • And soon artist residency.

This building, designed and built in 1969 by the famous Neuchâtel architect Beate Billeter was entirely made of concrete, making this work of remarkable architectural interest. Now the building was specially redesigned inside to highlight and show works of art to a public of visitors, as part of temporary exhibitions. This new cultural space in the canton of Neuchâtel is resolutely oriented towards international and local contemporary creation.

Six years ago, Mr Julien Gonzalez-Alonso took over Les Editions du Griffon. After being the Director of  a major contemporary art auction house in Paris, Mr. Gonzalez-Alonso decided to put himself at the service of contemporary creation. And that is how he became a book publisher. He had at heart to be an actor of creation by supporting authors, artists and institutions. For Mr Gonzalez-Alonso, books are about transmission, sharing, generosity, memory and eternity. Les Editions du Griffon is reborn and every year there will be an effort made to publish valuable and beautiful art books.
