This is an interesting exhibition at the MoMa in NY. For centuries, humankind looked for explanation for everything that surrounded us. For some things we got answers, for others we invented mythology.
Our historical heritage is a clever blend of rational events and random explanations we call superstition or mythology. Mythology is not only what the greeks or the romans left us, each day we reinvent our own mythology. Artists also contribute to express current mythologies by making them materialize throught sculpture, painting, video, music or other artistic expression. The NY MoMa presents an interesting exhibition in how modern artists perceive mythology. Works from the 18th century until 2008.

It is interesting to see how artists can capture the fears, the desires, frustrations or other feelings in the air of times in order to bring them into their art. They are the mirror of current times, expressing very often things that society can not define.
