In the Design world, Italians are for ever masters. Many italian brands just brought to the world brilliant creations. One of these brands is Alessi, master of design since 1921.
In the right heritage of Italian industrial design, Alessi put on stage several designers creations until today. Famous designers and architects such as Philippe Starck, Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sottsass have collaborated with Alessi, leaving their marks on the brand. Some examples of internationally recognized Alessi design objects include kettles by Michael Graves (1985) and Richard Sapper (1983) and the Phillipe Starck Juicy lemon squeezer (1990).
Since 2006, the Alessi product range has been divided into 3 sub-brands: “Officina Alessi”, “Alessi” and “A di Alessi”. The brand “OFFICINA ALESSI” features products that are more refined, expensive, experimental and innovative, with small production runs and limited editions. The brand “A di ALESSI” presents what we call “democratic” design; the best in design at an affordable price. The brand “ALESSI” expresses the finest in largescale industrial production in the houseware sector; both in terms of the quality of manufacturing and design. These brands do not possess independent identities, but rather reflect three different expressions of the same corporate identity.
Alessi is an industrial research laboratory in the field of design, inheriting from great movements of the past such as the British Arts & Crafts, the Austrian Wiener Werkstaette and the German Bauhaus. These collaborations have brought together poetry, creativity, culture, vision, sincerity, modernity and design excellence like no other. Alessi decided to offer its skills in design management and its vision of design as an overall creative discipline to companies working with products that are far removed from the line of products. These companies are highly specialized in their technological and distribution fields that, Alessi thinks, could create truly new items conceived for the evolved public of the twenty-first century.
