Scent is one of our strongest senses. The way someone smells can underline their personality. And, particularly when it comes to love, scent can be a strong indicator as to whether the spark leaps over or not. There is a broad offer of perfumes – from cheap to expensive. In this article, we’d like to focus on the most exquisite perfumes in the world.

Shumukh

Shumukh represents the UAE´s wealth. Just like with Dubai´s impressive buildings, understatement isn’t a word you would use in order to describe the expensive perfume. Shumukh certainly is a perfume of superlatives: buyers have to pay 1,29 million US-Dollars for a bottle, which comes in a pompously adorned leather display case of two meters height.

But what does this exquisite perfume smell like? It beautifully combines the most sophisticated fragrances that the Orient has to offer: agarwood, sandalwood, musk, Turkish Rose and many more delicate scents.

Clive Christian No. 1 Imperial Majesty

This one is a lot less expensive than Shumukh, yet still far from being affordable for the masses: Imperial Majesty is available for 12.700 USD per ounce. The fragrance was designed by the poet of perfumes, Roja Dove, who is well-known for his stunning creations. The scent enchants with a floral blend of delicate flowers such as Jasmine, Tahitian Vanilla and Rose Oil. Similar scents can be purchased with the popular dealer of exclusive perfumes, Essenza Nobile – only real connoisseurs will know the difference.

Baccarat Les Larmes Sacrées de Thèbes

Baccarat didn´t conquer the perfume industry until the 90s, but it has managed to make its way to the top with Les Larmes Sacrées de Thèbes. Fans pay 6.800 USD per ounce and love the exquisite smell. Les Larmes Sacrées de Thèbes means “the Holy Tears of Thebes”. It spreads a fragrance that is just as exclusive as the old Egyptian high culture. Only three bottles in a pyramid shape have been produced, which makes this perfume one of the most exclusive ones in the world.

Chanel Grand Extrait

Chanel has always been famous for exclusive perfumes, particularly for Chanel No. 5, which is one of the biggest perfume classics in the world. Grand Extrait has been around since 1921 and is therefore possibly the oldest luxury fragrance. It can be purchased for 4.200 USD per ounce.

Clive Christian No. 1

Clive Christian No. 1 shouldn´t be mixed up with Clive Christian No. 1 Imperial Majesty, as it is a lot less expensive at a price of 2.150 USD per ounce. Still, it is one of the biggest masterpieces in the world. What’s so special about No. 1 is that there is also a perfume for men. Both fragrances have their own unique scent, but turn even more extraordinary when smelt as the entity between a man and a woman.

Hermès 24 Faubourg

The brand of Hermès is well-known for its high-end purses, but also for a luxury perfume named 24 Faubourg. But what does 24 Faubourg even mean? It’s the address of the biggest flagship store of Hermès in Paris.

Caron Poivre

Being one of the oldest fragrances by the House of Perfumes Caron, Caron Poivre has become the brand’s signature scent. Bottles can be purchased for 1.000 USD per ounce.

Joy by Jean Patou

Even though Patou is now part of the Procter and Gamble group, its perfume Joy is still one of the most exclusive scents in the world. The scent, which includes Jasmine Flowers and roses, can be bought for 850 USD per ounce.

JAR Bolt of Lightning

JAR Bolt of Lightning, the last scent on our list of luxury perfumes, was created by a jeweler. It’s the extraordinary combination of floral overtones and oriental fragrances that turns the perfume into a very sophisticated one, which is considered one of the biggest classics in the industry. Bolt of Lightning can be purchased for 765 USD per ounce, which makes it the most inexpensive one on our list.
