The House of CHANEL announced in April its cooperation with Belgian singer-songwriter and musician Angèle – a House ambassador since February 2020 – for her “Nonante-Cinq Tour,” titled after her second album, which was published in December 2021. Virginie Viard collaborated closely with Angèle to create all her stage outfits for this tour, some of which are inspired by CHANEL’s Spring-Summer 1995 Ready-to-Wear collection. This unusual set of outfits has a dozen custom styles in various colours and fabrics, including tweed and sequins, and accessories like boots and sunglasses.

CHANEL is releasing a ten-minute film directed by Loïc Prigent, that follows the creative process behind Angèle’s stage outfits. The director captured her early contacts with Virginie Viard and the Creation studio, the preparation for her tour, backstage at her first show in Reims, and her performance at the Parisian festival We Love Green.

When I talk to Virginie, I feel like we know each other, we understand each other, and it’s easy. She’s such a precious personality for this kind of project…”

Angèle

The Belgium artist explains further that this collaboration with CHANEL is a truly human experience and an incredible adventure. There was an authentic dialogue between Angèle and Virginie Viard. They share desires that made this exceptional collection of outfits possible for the tour. Wearing unique CHANEL designs on stage with a beautiful 90’s inspiration makes a whole new difference. It supports Angèle’s creative universe and perfectly blends with the French luxury house values.

With this ten-minute-long video, we can enter the secrecy of creation and the details of the natural collaboration. A contemporary elegance emanates from this project, and it is very well done.
