Credit Suisse will target the ultra-rich people.

Swiss banks were never shy to talk to rich people. This month Credit Suisse, the second Swiss bank in terms of wealth, declared having a new specific strategy to target the ultra-rich people. Interesting as we know they are more and more in the world.

Switzerland, rich people are a common tradition.

Switzerland is also a perfect country that attracts the wealthy happy people in this world. A good example is Ingvar Kamprad, the founder of IKEA who used to live in Switzerland since 1976 and just recently went back to Sweden at the age of 87 years old.. His fortune was evaluated at 33 billion Swiss Francs. Or the example of Italian business man Ernesto Bertarelli with 10 billion Swiss francs.
Ernesto-Bertarelli

Switzerland top 9 most rich people, according to Forbes magazine. They own in total 36.3 Billion CHF:

  1. Ernesto Bertarelli & Family – 10 Billion CHF
  2. Hansjorg Wyss – 6.4 Billion CHF
  3. Thomas Schmidheiny – 4.8 Billion CHF
  4. Walter Haefner – 4 Billion CHF
  5. Stephan Schmidheiny – 2.9 Billion CHF
  6. Sergio Mantegazza – 2.9 Billion CHF
  7. Jean-Claude Gandur – 2 Billion CHF
  8. Esther Grether & Family – 2 Billion CHF
  9. Thomas Straumann – 1.3 Billion CHF

Despite of a very low tax policy, Switzerland offers a great quality of life and a high level of infrastructure. These 2 elements being key to the choice of residence location for a very wealthy person. It is also a quite low profile country, so not many scandals and buzz around in general. People are also quite respectful about private life, so the ultra-rich can enjoy a pretty relaxing life here.
Switzerland-Billionaires-life

According to LeMatin.ch, St.Morritz, Gestaadt and Verbier are 3 Swiss ski stations listed on the top 20 holidays location for the ultra-rich people behind the South of France Côte d’Azur, the Caribbean or Monaco and Sardinia. Many of them buy luxury chalets in these Swiss ski resorts for their winter holidays.

There are more and more ultra-rich people in the world

An interesting fact to note is that the world has more and more multi-millionaire people. According to an annual study done by UBS/Wealth-X, the world has 2’170 people with a personal fortune over 1 Billion CHF.

Swiss-Money

If we take the category of the “Ultra-Rich”, this means people with at least 50 million CHF of personal fortune. And they are around 100’000 people in the world. This represents an increase of +10% in the past 12 month. We also call them the “Ultra High Net Worth Individuals”. Forbes magazine also explained that the top 5 most money waiste for multi-millionaires are:

  1. Luxury Real Estate
  2. Transport (private jets, flying tickets)
  3. Luxury sport cars
  4. Gambling
  5. Luxury goods / Shopping

Credit Suisse’s strategy is simple: Target people with big money

According to the Credit Suisse, the Ultra-rich people having an account at Credit Suisse represents around 44% of the 812 Billion CHF that the private bank is managing. Thanks to the economic health of Emerging markets, new fortunes are rising and Credit Suisse believes that they can reach an increase to 50% of this client segment. As published by the Boston Consulting Group, people with more than 100 million CHF will annually increase by 9.2% until 2017.

So in order to attract these wealthy people, Credit Suisse decided to expand lending, as credits will be a catchy product to propose. In order to build a solid lending power, Credit Suisse will put aside, from its financial result, between 15 to 20 Billion CHF. This this new strategy wants to lend billions of dollars for clients invest in movable or immovable property and complex financial products.

This is a great advertising to Switzerland that tries to open the field of possibilities to the very wealthy. This new strategy arrives only several month after the scandal of American citizens trying to escape from US taxes in Switzerland. Despite the fact this scandal was connecting to UBS, Swiss banks are at stake.

Credit Suisse also explained that the aim of the Bank is to focus more and more on their richest customers and get rid of the less interesting clients. They declared that in the past 5 years, private banking has suffered of different pressures as it became more and more popular.

This strategy is interesting because during economic crisis times, many companies tried to open more their reach and tried to target more people. In the case of Credit Suisse, they take the opposite, they target even more exclusive people.  Let’s see how this is going to evolve and if Credit Suisse were right or not to bet into this elitist strategy.

Aperlaï, luxury shoes. You will be addicted!

0
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Shoes are truly girl’s best friends. Discover Aperlaï by Alessandra Lanvin. Amazing shoes collection created in France and made in Italy. It is all inspired by the beauty of design and the edgy taste for beauty. In 2009, when Alessandra Lanvin founded Aperlaï, it was pretty clear that the aim of the Shoe house would be to propose outstanding shoes design for an elegant and sophisticated clientele. Of course with such a family name, it was obvious that there was already an artistic background opened to creation.

Alessandra-Lanvin-Aperlai

In deed, Alessandra Lanvin is married to Hubert Lanvin, the grandson of Jeanne Lanvin, founder of the Fashion house of the same name. Despite of the name, it is truly Alessandra’s talent and taste for design that pushed her to create such precious and personal things for a woman as shoes. In an interview given to wwd.com, she explained that when she was pregnant, she used to wear beautiful but often uncomfortable shoes. That gave her the idea to develop shoes that would be very graphic, like a sculpture. Though still wearable! So some of her secrets for a perfect pair of shoes that will not kill you is either shock absorption pads in flat shoes or heels never too high in general.

Aperlai-winter-collection-black

Several collections became already iconic at Aperlaï. For example the Geisha collection. The ancient Japanese tradition and the sophisticated Geisha elegance inspired Aperlaï some amazing designs in a very geometrical way.

The path of success for the brand was filled with many interesting encounters. In deed, several celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Keira Knightley, Blake Lively, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley or Olivia Wilde.

Lately it was Vanessa Paradis, french singer and ex-Ms. Johnny Depp, who has chosen Aperlaï for one of her photo shoots. For the “Love Songs” tour, Jean-Baptiste Mondino shot Vanessa Paradis wearing a pair of Aperlaï Boots called High Simple B from the AW 13/14 collection.

The new communication campaign was shot by Olivier Marcillac and highlights Paris and the famous Crillon Hotel. These elements give the modern sophistication that represents well the brand. A Lifestyle Magazine that Quenches your Thirst for Fashion

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Luxury and fashion need not go hand in hand always. What may be fashionable to one may not be so to the other person. In our quest to know what luxury is and what fashion is, we tend to mix both the concepts. In real life, the agencies of fashion and the agencies of luxury can be quite the contrary to each other. If you visit a fashion website, you might be awed by the glitz and the glamour of the world of fashionistas, expensive dresses, fragrance launches, fashion shows and many more events that usher in fashion in the fashionable way that only they can, into our lives.

fashionista

But when it comes to living fashion and blending it with your life, you need someone to hand-hold you through the entire process. When you watch news, for example red carpet news, page-3 news, and anything that is remotely associated with fashion and adopting fashion into your regular life, how do you go about doing it? Watching snippets of fashion on the news is not half as good. You need an in-depth analysis to understand the various components that make up fashion and how they can be incorporated into our ‘plain Jane’ existence. A bridge has to be built which can balance fashion, utility and luxury.

Imagine if there was a lifestyle magazine that could answer these questions for you. But then, there are so many who would argue about the lifestyle and fashion magazines that are available in plenty in every nook and cranny of the city’s newsstands. The concept of a webzine or a web magazine is still pretty novel too. The pros of subscribing to a webzine are many compared to the magazine that we have known for so long. To start with, since it is web based, it can be read anytime. Whenever you are online or whenever you get the time to be online, you have access to the most recent updates without worrying about what you missed.

fashion-news-non-stop

Such webzines, not only feed you epicurean delights about fashion, lifestyle and luxury, they are also your link to the world of high-end fashion, trends, beauty, arts, design etc. and offer basically anything and everything that is related to luxury news. If you are one who loves the finer things in life, like fashion, fragrances, watches and all such things that define luxury getting all the first hand information about them is just as necessary as using them and seeing whether they suit you or not. These webzines thrive on the attention that the readers pay to them. If you are a fashion and fragrance enthusiast, you will find reading these articles extremely satisfying.

fragrance-reviews

When we are referring to high-end fashion and lifestyle, how can we miss out on fragrances? Fragrances are the typical yardsticks to measure how fashionable and luxurious a person can be. From fragrances reviews to fragrance launches, everything that is happening in the world of fashion and lifestyle finds a place on the pages of a webzine. The big brands and even bigger fragrances fight for your attention and when you are well informed about them, you naturally take a better decision. Fashion has never been easy to follow; it is like the honey trap that everyone loves getting trapped in and the bottom line remains – you can love fashion or loathe fashion but you cannot ignore it.

Tips for Choosing the Best Day Spa

0
Reading Time: 5 minutes

Are you planning on spending a day at the spa? If so, you’re going to want to read all the advice and tips we have below to make sure you have a wonderful experience. Choosing the right day spa doesn’t need to be difficult – even if you want somewhere to relax and maybe take a nap while you wait for your massage appointment.

best-day-spa-tips

Tips to ensure an enjoyable day spa experience

Here’s a few things you can do to make sure you don’t spend too much money and that you receive everything you need to be able to relax and rejuvenate while making yourself look great at the same time.

  • Call and confirm so that there will be no nasty shocks or surprises or when you learn the actual prices upon completion of treatment. Once satisfied, you should make an appointment that suits your schedule
  • Ask for recommendations from friends, and find out which are the best day spas that offer the most satisfying experience and service, NOT the cheapest.
  • Reputation counts. You want to make sure you go with a spa that has a good reputation for being clean. Reading reviews online may give you a good idea of what a place is going to be like, but you may want to visit for yourself.
  • Is it legit? Check to see if the day spa is a registered one with legit license. These are necessary to do business and if a place doesn’t have them, you may want to keep searching until you find a better day spa.

Spa etiquette

What to do?

  • Arrive on time – even better, make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment time so that you need not rush when dealing with paperwork.
  • Turn off cell phones – there’s nothing more annoying than the incessant sound of ringing cell phones disturbing your peace and relaxation.
  • Shower – physical hygiene is important, even before a spa session. It also helps avoid chlorinated water from being massaged into your skin after enjoying a hot tub or pool session.
  • Tip the therapist or masseuse: It is the norm to tip 15-20% of the total price. Do ask beforehand if the final price includes gratuities, otherwise ask for the envelopes in which you can place your tip.

What to wear?

  • Wear something that’s easy to remove. Also consider bringing a fresh change of clothes if you don’t want to wear something that smells of sweat right after a refreshing spa session.
  • Change into robe and slippers. Request for another robe if you find the first one unfit or uncomfortable. Regular spa goers sometimes bring their own pair of robe and slippers.
  • What’s the issue with nudity? Most day spas require customers to disrobe and be in the buff (albeit under the sheet) before a massage. A masseuse will usually excuse him or herself so that you can change alone. Always speak up about any discomfort you may have, and you may be recommended treatments that won’t require you to undress, such as reflexology or reiki.

Beware: 5 things you should be concerned with when visiting day spas

1. Rough handling: Some therapists or masseuses go over the top with vigorous treatments. Tell them you prefer gentleness over a barbarian’s touch, or silence over incessant conversations.

2. Pushy personnel: There’s nothing more annoying than pushy personnel who want you to shell out more cash for additional treatments or products. The right thing to do is to politely but firmly decline, and in worse case scenarios, you can even request for another therapist if the first one does not please you.

3. Allergies, reactions and overall health conditions: If you have allergies or existing health conditions, it pays to reveal them to your therapist. People with high blood pressure or heart disease should try to avoid extreme heat in steam rooms, for example. Similarly, those with nut allergies should check if any almond-based massage oil will be used.

4. Dangers for pregnant moms: While relaxing spas are just what the doctor ordered to de-stress a pregnant woman, expectant mothers should try to avoid any treatment that involve high heat (steam, sauna, hot tubs) and instead opt for prenatal massages, facials, reflexology and aromatherapy.

5. Risk of infections: A spa may seem clean at first glance, but there could be bacteria and germs lounging about even as you enjoy a seemingly tranquil experience. Spa pools may possibly be good breeding grounds for bacteria and fungi, and while you cannot avoid being in there as part of a treatment, you should take care to shower immediately after. However, if you have cuts or open wounds on your body, you should avoid foot treatments that involve soaking your feet in water-filled basins to avoid infections.

If you are able to follow most or all of the tips above, the advice will help you find a great place to get away – no matter where you live in the world. The important thing to remember is that you shouldn’t go with the first spa you run across. Instead, it’s a better idea to do your research and even try a few different places until you find one that works best for you. Before long, you’ll realize just how much you love the spa experience and will want a repeat of that all over again!

Zurich-Kunsthaus-Expressionism
August Macke
Landscape with Cows and Camel, 1914
Kunsthaus Zürich

From 7th of February to 11th of May 2014
Expressionism is an interesting art trend. Most of people think that it is a independent German movement. In fact, it was more a global reaction to an interesting period of history in which artists would travel, meet and exchange their point of view. So this begining of 20th century attended to a ping pong game between neo-impressionism in France and the German response with Expressionism. While the Fauves were striking the colours in Paris, well, the German Expressionists would strike them even harder. This exhibition is an international cooperation between the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Musée des Beaux Arts of Montreal and the Kunsthaus Zürich.

You cannot talk about the beginning of modern sculpture without talking about Germaine Richier. She was a french sculptor born in 1902. She is completely in the line of figurative sculpture. Her personal approach though was to combine human personification with animal look-alike. It is the first time a big institution does a complete retrospective on her work. End of 20’s, beginning of the 30’s she became acquainted with Alberto Giacometti. The 2 artists never really met but we can see some of Giacometti’s influence.
