Mirror, Mirror

If you're looking for infinity, you'll find it harnessed on the third floor in Dover Street Market. Hedi Slimane's Saint Laurent collection – menswear, womenswear and accessories – is reflected to the hilt in a cabinet of dress-up geometry.

Appropriating techniques and materials from French Art Deco with Bauhaus influence, repetitive vitrines are constructed in poli mirror, brass and extra clear mirror, playing the House code of silver and gold in unison. It's the ultimate frame for Slimane's youth quake tailoring, leather jackets, suspended Paris heels and blue jeans, an item Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent had great regard for, quoting, "They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity – all I hope for in my clothes". This installation remains equally as potent empty of the ritualistic wardrobe.

It's not the first time Slimane has exhibited at Rei Kawakubo's original concept store, however, as the creative showcased his F System furniture project back in 2007, a series of artisan crafted loveseats and tables transposed – and disrupted – from historical silhouettes in stainless steel and ebony.

Mayfair's the hotspot where the impetus of other eras meets the future, it seems. All those mirrors make sure the romance bounces the right way.

Christopher Kane AW13

Christopher Kane recently sold 51% of his company to PPR, the group with Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney in its brand portfolio. Yes, we're talking the highest fashion echelon, but take a minute to pay attention to those last two names: Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney. At the turn of the millennium, they too were brands, like Kane, held in place by a glass ceiling of funding and resources. Until PPR came along, did the 51%, and voila----a decade later there were two British supers battling Italian and French houses.

This is what, excitingly, lies ahead for Kane, who will be able to develop his label, and place an all-encompassing context around his clothes, culminating in own-brand stores.

If you're wondering how he addressed that through his collection, it was by employing a thumping, relentless soundtrack, and opening with major SAGA fur pieces that could rival any European house. If that got people talking about a 'change, then sending out mini kilts – a nod to his Scottish roots – was Kane telling us he's doing it his way.

The entrance was underscored by a collection that made use of Kane's archive, with dresses that ghosted the silhouettes of his earliest lace/leather/velvet collections, made even further luxe. One motif on a sweater and dress appeared to show a lightning bolt breaking through a skull, and touching the brain: literally mind-blowing.

It all happened in a shiny, glass City venue. First, we took an escalator, and then, a lift god-knows-how-many floors up. We were literally sky-high. Soon Kane will be too.

Montblanc teams up with Harrods to launch an in-store augmented reality experience, as Herms partners with Harper’s Bazaar to retail a limited collection online.

In the past month the digital luxury landscape has been dominated by the moves of the media and retailers. As the New York times announced restructuring measures to the tune of thirty senior journalists, Net-a-Porter announced its intention to launch a full-blown fashion glossy.

As Rupert Murdoch confirmed he will shutter The Daily – the iPad-only magazine he launched two years ago – social-shopping company ThisNext unveiled Glossi, a platform which allows users and brands to create their very own digital magazines.

But perhaps nothing was more surprising, than to hear that Herms will be retailing a selection of footwear on the eCommerce venture of fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar. Digital may have muddied the waters, but never have the lines between brand, retailer and publisher been so blurred.

Fashion Flashback: The Best Fashion Campaigns Featuring Kate Moss, Gisele and Madonna

Fashion Flashback: The Best Fashion Campaigns Featuring Kate Moss, Gisele and Madonna

In honor of FashionTV’s 15th anniversary, we are sharing with you three of the most remarkable fashion campaigns the world has ever seen. See Kate Moss posing below zero degrees, Gisele in a stunning summer Missoni collection and Madonna’s iconic LV shoot with Marc Jacobs. It’s the small details, the fabulous collections and of course – the stunning locations – that make these fashion moments unforgettable.

Kate Moss for Absolute Versace 1999

One of the most beautiful (and freezing campaigns) is the one Kate Moss shot for Absolute Versace. The frozen atmosphere served as an excellent backdrop as supermodel Kate Moss wore a magnificent gray dress and was styled in pale make up. Moss proved to be the perfect ice queen. While the campaign was for Absolute Vodka, the Versace team treated it as a full-fledged fashion production. More than 10 years later, the Absolute Versace campaign still stands out as a memorable campaign moment.

Gisele Bundchen for Missoni 2002

The Italian fashion brand chose supermodel Gisele Bundchen for its Spring 2002 campaign. Photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott were behind the scene, directing and shooting Bundchen as she posed in various sexy positions. The wild rocks and the calm blue sea served as the perfect backdrop to Missoni's colorful summer line. Bundchen looked divine posing for the camera, with her wild hair and gorgeous smile, showcasing the new Missoni items.

Madonna for Louis Vuitton 2009

Marc Jacobs chose Madonna as the face of Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2009 campaign, and according to him, more than 30 costume colors were made in order to get the absolute perfection for the queen of pop. This is a great chance to get behind the scenes and watch how great minds merge and get the ultimate campaign for the luxury French fashion house.

Fashion Roundup: Roberto Cavalli Tweets Away! Posh Spice designs a Range Rover! Gisele’s Niece . . . The World’s Youngest Fashion Designer?

Roberto Cavalli is in a complicated relationship with his Twitter account. The famed designer is becoming infamous for his micro-blogging. Last weekend Cavalli Tweeted some criticisms at Anna Wintour, stated that there are no true French designers and complimented Marc Jacobs’s on his namesake brand, as opposed to the show he stages for Louis Vuitton, which he described as being “for an old lady.” (New York Magazine)

In honor of Earth Day, Fashionista collected ten eco-friendly brands that design with organic materials or have environmentally-friendly work ethics. “Not buying at all is the most friendly, buying second hand is second best, but buying sustainable-designed clothes is certainly third best”. (Fashionista)

Is the Fashion Industry fueling the Presidential Race? According to Women’s Wear Daily, around $234,600 has already been donated to President Obama, while another $195,820 has been donated to Mitt Romney. Not including Anna Wintour’s Runway to Win, Obama campaign, featuring 22 designers. (Styleite)

The Spice Girl turned designer, Victoria Beckham, revealed her debut design for a Range Rover in Beijing. Inspired by husband David Beckham, who was appointed the creative design executive at Range Rover in 2010, Range Rover will produce 200 models with this design, selling at $127,000 each. (Telegraph)

With Barcelona Bridal Week set to start next month, the Fall 2012 Bridal Trend is sizzling hot at the moment and is due to go vintage, take a look at several items from this trend. (WWD)

Fashion Roundup: Charlize Theron Shaves Her Head, Karl Lagerfeld Gets Wax Figure, and Stella McCartney Throws Garden Party

Fashion Roundup: Charlize Theron Shaves Her Head, Karl Lagerfeld Gets Wax Figure, and Stella McCartney Throws Garden Party

Is there something in the water in Hollywood? First Rihanna and now Avril Lavigne has shaved half her head in a new hairstyle reminiscent of a punky glam rocker. She kept the color and length on the other side of her head in the same style. She isn't the only one revamping her look. Charlize Theron has shaved her blond locks for her upcoming movie role in Mad Max: Fury Road. She’s been wearing a beanie or Fedora to cover it up ever since. (Huffington Post)

Karl Lagerfeld is always known for making headlines in fashion, least of which is for his iconic black and white tuxedo look and low ponytail. So it’s no surprise Germany’s St. Pauli Panopticon has opted to preserve the legendary Chanel designer--in wax! The figure features Lagerfeld’s iconic dark sunglasses and black studded gloves. (People)

This isn’t Lagerfeld’s only headline this week. He’s also making headlines for a book of photographs based on Chanel’s Little Black Jacket. The fashion tome is made up of 113 photographs shot by Lagerfeld of models, celebrities, socialites, fashionistas, and personalities styled in the LBJ by former French Vogue Editor-In-Chief Carine Roitfeld. Chanel threw a party to celebrate an exhibit featuring the photos on display from June 8 to June 15. (Harper’s Bazaar)

Maison Martin Margiela is the next high fashion brand to collaborate with H&M! Straight off the heels of the popular team ups with Lanvin, Versace, Roberto Cavalli, and Marni, the popular French has created a collection of timeless, streamlined and wearable pieces debuting on November 15. Will we see MMM fans Michelle Obama or Sarah Jessica Parker in one of these pieces? (Stylelite)

Stella McCartney travels around the world to present her collections, turning up in both England and Paris on occasions. She took to New York to showcase her Resort 2013 presentation, throwing a sweet summer party in a garden for the occasion. Besides gorgeous clothes, the event attracted a bevy of beauties like Anne Hathaway, Amy Poehler and Solange Knowles. (Fabsugar)

Fashion Roundup: Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis Split, Emma Stone On The Cover of Vogue, and Is Kate Upton The World’s First Social Media…

Fashion Roundup: Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis Split, Emma Stone On The Cover of Vogue, and Is Kate Upton The World’s First Social Media Supermodel?

It’s the end for the world’s most fashionable couple! CFDA fashion icon Johnny Depp and Chanel muse Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated after 14 years together and 2 children.

The pair, who have never married, have been living separate lives for months after moving to Los Angeles from France and haven’t appeared on a red carpet together in more than a year. Paradis, a French model, singer, and actress is currently in France promoting her movie Je Me Suis Fait Tout Petit. Depp was recently named the Council of Fashion Designers’ fashion icon for 2012 and received the Generation Award at the MTV Movie Awards this year. (People)

Emma Stone gets around! She recently appeared on the cover of New York magazine, where she talked about being flattered by comedian Jim Carrey’s creepy public crush. Stone is also making her debut on the cover of Vogue’s July issue with photos shot by fashion photographer Mario Testino. This cover comes just in time for the release of her Spider-Man movie with costar Andrew Garfield, who is now her boyfriend. Could this pair take Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis’s spot as “Most Fashionable Couple?” (Vogue)

Fashionista.com is asking if Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton is the world’s first social media supermodel. (We thought Coco Rocha had that title?) According to the blog, Upton has made strategic decisions on social media platforms like YouTube and Twitter, posing for controversial fashion photographer Terry Richardson in photos and videos that went viral. (Fashionista)

We’re not really sure why Alexa Chung is famous. She was the host of a now debunked MTV talk show and she shows up at all the major fashion shows. She also has a killer style. Whatever the case, the brands seem to love her--pushing her to appear in their ads. Her newest endeavor? A modern French brand named Maje that has tapped the British TV presenter to be the face of their Fall advertising campaign. She plays the part of “elegant yet edgy” 60s heroine for the shoot. (WWD)

Jennifer Hudson is a singer, actress, and role model for girls who want to shed pounds in a healthy fashion. Now, she’s also a fashion designer. The “American Idol” alum has put together a budget-friendly fashion line for QVC, which caters to average-size women from sizes 6 to 16. The line includes affordable dresses, leggings, skirts, and coats. She isn’t the first celeb to turn fashion designer for QVC. Nicole Richie, Heidi Klum, and even the Kardashians have come before her. (Stylelist)
