Hi, I promised to my self that I would not right an article about the French Film Festival, Cannes. Not that it is not interesting, but basically because the luxury news around this festival is always the same each year. Small brands trying to launch themselves between 2 film projections, starlettes and big stars wearing magnificient dresses and beautiful boys of course… So a little “déjà vu”.

But this year, something different happened. Gucci launched its first Capsule collection. This capsule does not have the vocation of dressing the catwalks, but to please actress in love with the Brand. The Collection is called Premiere, like the first time for a movie and for the Brand. And because Gucci never does things by half, the italian brand chosed Salma Hayek, the Bomba Latino.

A glamourous collection inspired by the Red carpet ambiance. Even Naomi Watts, until now linked to Thierry Mugler (as egerie for its Angel perfume), let herself tempted by a terrific white Gucci Premiere dress. Frida Giannini, Gucci Creative Director explained to WWD this week that the brand does not have a specific strategy behind this move towards Couture, or almost Haute-Couture. For her, this is a more personal kind of action among their biggest fans. I think all the nice Gucci clients would die to wear the “Salma Hayek Dress”. LA

  3. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
