Next month there will be the second edition of the SALON DU DESIGN in Geneva. The Design fair supports quality mid century design. For the new edition, that will take place on the weekend of 3-4 November 2018 at the Pavillon Sicli, Corine Stübi, co-founder of Kissthedesign Gallery and organiser of the fair, selected around thirty exhibitors from all over Switzerland and Europe.

Thirty or so exhibitors are selected from the experienced and serious gallery and shop owners, or online shops. The aim is to highlight 100 years of design history through authentic pieces from the 1920s to the 1985s. The third edition will unveil the periods and styles defended by the participating brands: Galleries specialized in postmodern furniture, Bauhaus, Scandinavian design, modern architects, Swiss, Italian and French design, or a unique collection of ceramics. There are also those who devote themselves to a single designer: Charles & Ray Eames, on the first floor and Pierre Paulin on the ground floor.

Swiss and international merchants are reserving their finest acquisitions at the Geneva Design Show as a preview of major European events that follow one another in autumn.

19M: An Outstanding Architectural Project

Built on 9,000m² of land at the Porte d’Aubervilliers, the 25,000m² building complex, once completed, will extend over five floors and two basements. The project was designed by architect Rudy Ricciotti and his challenge was to recount the relationship between the technical and expert complexity of fashion’s handcraftsmanship and the extreme technological nature of the project. Its structure and its architecture are the results of the highest quality environmental considerations. The building completely respects the Parisian climate plan and as well as promoting energy efficiency and biodiversity, aims to be awarded the most demanding environmental certificates and labels, including:

  • NF HQE Tertiary Buildings standard
  • BREEAM International New Construction certificate
  • LEED Label

Its name alone, Le 19M, resumes the vocation of this new ensemble: M for the words Mains (Hands), Mode (Fashion), Métier (Craftsmanship), and 19 for the arrondissement that welcomes it, on the edge of Paris. Le 19M, a building full of life, open to the world and the public, will be an actor in its own right in the future Grand Paris.
