The Brasserie du Royal at The Royal Savoy Lausanne- Simplicity Is The Ultimate Luxury

Reading Time: 6 minutes

Brasserie-du-Royal-Lausanne

This week, we were lucky to discover the new seasonal menu of the Brasserie du Royal at the Royal Savoy in Lausanne. This is probable one of our preferred restaurants in town. The expertise of the Alsatian triple Michelin-starred  Chef Marc Haeberlin, complements the skills and experience of the Executive Chef Julien Krauss and the Brasserie team, allowing foodies to discover and enjoy distinctive and creative Brasserie food.

Alain Kropf, the Royal Savoy Lausanne General Manager, explained that Simplicity is the ultimate form of elegance and luxury. This is why Marc Haeberlin was chosen to bring his expertise to the Brasserie. His approach of food requires the highest standards in terms of quality and the very good taste for simple ingredients. This is the heart of the Brasserie du Royal.

Originally from Alsace region, Julien Krauss started his career among the stars of gastronomy. First at the Vieux Couvent in Alsace, then at the Auberge de la Charme in Dijon and then from 2006 to 2008 at the Auberge de l’Ill in  Illhaeusern, the restaurant of the Haeberlin family. All these restaurants have stars in the famous Michelin guide. Julien Krauss learned the love for good quality ingredients, play with seasons and origins and above all, the respect of the customer. His approach of Cuisine is very client focus. He will not hesitate to change the way things are done if he believes will procure a good benefit for the experience customers would have. There is, as mentioned here above, a natural connection with Marc Haeberlin which makes from this collaboration a fantastic dynamic duo.

What is special about the Brasserie du Royal?

Being in the heart of a five stars hotel, the Brasserie du Royal benefits from a luxury clientele, who generally have high expectations standards in terms of quality and service. This allows a great freedom to innovate, to surprise and to please customers with a great experience. The first thing we see is the caring that all the Brasserie personnel brings to their customers. You feel welcome and you know by the smile of the waiter that you are going to spend a good moment. Then, let’s not forget the true spirit of a Brasserie. Originally from France, a Brasserie is a type of restaurant with a relaxing setting which serves single dishes and other meals. The word itself is a french word for “brewery” and by extension the “brewing business”. A brasserie can be expected to have professional service, printed menus and traditionally white linen on the tables. The food is generally supposed to be of very good quality and simple as for a everyday meal.

At the Royal Savoy Lausanne, the spirit of Brasserie is well respected. No matter if you come for lunch or for diner, you will enjoy a delightful moment.

The New Brasserie Du Royal Menu, A Delight For Your Palate

What can we say about the new menu of the Brasserie du Royal? It is all about Spring. New colors, blooming of tastes and the aim to stimulate the senses. Marc Haeberlin in association with the Brasserie team, have composed a beautiful menu. The idea is to associate the Swiss terroir and its richness with some hints from Alsace, where Marc Haeberlin and Julien Krauss are originated from. During our diner we were able to taste the following:

The perfect florentine egg tetragon

Perfect-egg-florentine

This was the perfect starter. This revisit of the “Oeuf Florentine” is a success. In the culinary arts, the word Florentine, or the term à la Florentine, refers to a recipe that is prepared in the style of the Italian region of Florence. The easiest way to remember what it means is that a Florentine-style recipe features spinach. The Brasserie du Royal revisit this recipe. Each spoon is a carnival inside your mouth. To note the small pieces of cheese… hummm.

Foie Gras H with its dried fruits chutney and kougelhopf

Foie-Gras-H kougelhopf

Here is the perfect illustration of a simple, elegant and tasty dish Brasserie style. The foie gras H is beautiful prepared. Very tasty. It is served with a elegant dried fruits chutney and a surprising revisit of the Alsatian kougelhopf. The kougelhopf, or Gugelhupf, was traditionally baked in a distinctive circular bundt mold. In late medieval central Europe, it was served at major community events such as weddings.  There are many regional variations, testifying to the widespread popularity of the kougelhopf tradition.

Candied cod with its Minestrone

Candied-cod-and-minestrone

For us, this original dish could be described as East-meets-West. The minestrone idea associated with the fish, its algae and its exotic bouillon present a rich picture and a delight for the palate. Very delicate.

Supreme of slowly cooked chicken with its gnocchi potatoes and pan-seared mushrooms

Supreme-slowly-cooked-chicken

Another great example of a simple dish but prepared with the best qualitative ingredients and in the right way. This slow-cooked chicken was probably one of the best chicken I had for a long time. It was perfectly cooked and still, keeping its juice and flavor. The gnocchi potatoes associated with the mushrooms was generous and mouthwatering. Last but not least, the touch of “ail des Ours”, the green sauce around, brought the perfect hint of originality and loyalty to the Swiss terroir.

The Haeberlin Peach, iconic.

Peche-Haeberlin

In a true brasserie, there are desserts you need to have. From Baba au Rhum, to Tarte Tatin, there are icons you need or then you are not a brasserie. At the Royal Savoy Lausanne, you will find these amazing sweet traditions but even more. Here the example of the iconic Haeberlin Peach. This recipe is a true family recipe created by Paul Haeberlin in 1965. Since then, it had a special place in the Haeberlin family and became a signature dessert. At the Brasserie du Royal, you can taste this dessert which is a thrill. The Sabayon is delicious and this entire poached peach is outstanding. No better way to finish our meal.

You can see the full new menu here:

Once more it was a great pleasure to get back to the Royal Savoy in Lausanne. The Brasserie innovates and yet, is still truthful to the brasserie spirit: simplicity, elegance, quality and good caring of its customers.

How Jewelry Can Add to Any Outfit

Reading Time: 3 minutes

If you know anything about style, you’ll be aware of the importance of accessories when it comes to completing an outfit. Choose correctly and you’ll be adding the perfect finishing touches to your look. Leave them out and no matter how chic your wardrobe, you’ll fail to shine as brightly as you should. Jewelry is one of your key accessories, and it can really make or break your outfit, so attention to detail and careful consideration are needed to make sure you select the right piece that will enhance your look for you.

Necklaces

One of the focal points of your outfit will be what you choose to wear around your neck. Plunging necklines and a hint of cleavage invite the addition of pendants and showier pieces, designed to draw attention to the area. To work well, the length of the chain is of paramount importance. The necklace must lie flat against your skin, not disappear under your dress or hang half in and half out of your neckline – this doesn’t have a lot of elegance!

Luxury-Jewelry-guide

Earrings

Your choice of earrings will be determined by the length and style of your hair, and how it covers your ears. Wearing your long hair up will show off your earrings, but having it down means they will be largely concealed. Earrings send a clear message about your personality, but you can always mix it up by wearing flamboyant designs with a plain outfit for example.

Diamond studs are a classic look that goes with most clothing choices, adding a touch of sparkle to plain and casual outfits without being too bling. A pair of titanium earring studs adds class to any outfit, and will always look stylish whether you are dressed in jeans and T-shirt or glammed up in a sparkly black dress for an evening out. Local craftspeople are a great source for more unusual designs, but avoid anything cheap, as it could cause an allergic reaction, as well as not being complementary to your outfit.

Jewelry-guide-luxury-tips

Rings and other things

If you wear wedding, engagement, and/or eternity rings, avoid wearing anything else on your left hand. They are a focal point in themselves and wearing anything next to them will detract from their beauty and not add to the style of your outfit. If you aren’t wearing wedding rings, or you like wearing rings on your right hand, choosing the right design can draw attention to perfectly manicured nails.

In simple terms, wearing bold, eye-catching pieces will enhance understated clothes, bringing them to life and turning plain into elegant. If you’re wearing clothes that speak for themselves, the addition of high quality, modest pieces will complement your look best. Choosing designs that are relevant to your circumstances will add that special touch to your look, for example wearing a leaf design in the fall, or a literary design like an open book or a quill to an evening at the theatre. If you add the right jewelry to your outfit, it will complete it and make the clothes look even better – and if you don’t have the right piece to hand, it’s a great excuse to go shopping!

Innovative Ways to Live in Luxury on Your Travels

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Luxury-traveler

Traveling is something that most people dream of doing during their lifetime, with solo travelers, families, and romantic trips making up much of the holiday market. Yet, what people truly dream of is living in luxury when they are away. You may be used to having luxury trips at your fingertips, but there may also come a time when you are looking for something new, where you can truly live your best life during your stay. Luckily, there have been many new ways recently that people have been using to explore the luxury travel world. To ensure your next trip oozes as much luxury as the last, make sure you take note of these innovative tips.

Change your car

Lots of people love how they can escape from their usual lives when they are on vacation. This can sometimes mean reinventing yourself for a few days or weeks when you are in a new location. One of the easiest ways to live in luxury when you are away is to trade in your car for a rental one, which will accompany you for the duration of your trip. If your home car doesn’t give you a smooth ride and you are looking for a change, you should look at car rentals near me to choose one that you can see yourself enjoying for the coming days.

Don’t stick to hotel rooms

When people think of luxury, they often picture extravagant hotel rooms with room service and plush down covers. However, they never entertain the idea of renting something other than a hotel room, which can give them even more luxury. In recent years, innovations like AirBnB mean that people can rent luxury apartments and villas at a fraction of the cost to hotel rooms. In some cases, you can expect to arrive with a bottle of wine on your bedside table. The biggest plus to renting a home is that you can truly feel as though you are living a life of luxury when you are there, as you will have the whole home to enjoy.

House sit

Renting homes for vacations has always been a popular idea, despite new ways to do it, but one idea that can save you lots of money is offering to house sit for people in luxury homes. The people who own such homes are away a lot on business, or use these locations as their second homes, meaning they are often open to having house sitters. You may be wondering how you can do this, but there are a number of websites and apps you can use to get involved. For example, some are there for pet sitters to come and stay, while others are open to house sitters. Depending on where you stay, some homeowners pay you for looking after their property, so you can use the money to explore the opulence of their neighborhood. In most cases, you pay a small annual fee to help your chances of house sitting- a price which pays off in the long run.

Situated where the Rhône exits Lake Geneva, it is the capital of the Republic and Canton of Geneva. The municipality (ville de Genève) has a population (as of December 2015) of 198,072, and the canton (which is essentially the city and its inner-ring suburbs) has 484,736 residents. In 2014, the compact agglomération du Grand Genève had 946,000 inhabitants in 212 communities in both Switzerland and France. Within Swiss territory, the commuter area named “Métropole lémanique” contains a population of 1.25 million.[citation needed] This area is essentially spread east from Geneva towards the Riviera area (Vevey, Montreux) and north-east towards Yverdon-les-Bains, in the neighbouring canton of Vaud.

Sleek, slick and cosmopolitan, Geneva is a rare breed of city: it’s among Europe’s priciest, its people chatter in every language and it’s constantly perceived as the Swiss capital (it isn’t). Superbly strung around the shores of Europe’s largest Alpine lake, Switzerland’s second-largest city has only half the population of Zürich; yet the whole world is here: 200-odd governmental and nongovernmental international organisations fill Geneva’s plush hotels, feast on its international cuisine and help prop up its famed overload of banks, luxury jewellers and chocolate shops. But where’s the urban grit? Not in the lakeside’s silky-smooth promenades and iconic fountain of record-breaking heights, nor in its pedestrian Old Town. To find the rough cut of the diamond, dig into the Pâquis quarter or walk along the Rhône’s industrial shores where local neighbourhood bars hum with attitude. This is the Geneva of the Genevois…or as close as you’ll get to it.

How to Make Your Backyard Ready for Summer

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Every homeowner wants to make the most of their garden as soon as summer strikes, and the warmer weather comes around again. Unfortunately, a tired, dull exterior will make you want to head back inside. That is why you need to read how to make your backyard ready for summer and create a luxury space you can use all year long.

Rake Your Lawn

Gardening

If you want to enjoy green, healthy grass throughout the seasons, you should rake your lawn before summer arrives. Doing so will help to remove any thatch or decaying plants that have accumulated on the ground over time, which can ultimately block much-needed sunlight while preventing water from hydrating the grass roots.

Reseed Bare Patches on Your Lawn

Bald patches can occur during the colder seasons due to arduous weather conditions. You can, however, restore your lawn by reseeding any bare patches. Ideally, you should do this during fall, which is prior to a lawn’s peak growing season. Don’t forget to water the patches the same way you would water your lawn.

Prune Your Trees and Shrubs

Your trees and shrubs can help to create a beautiful, inviting, and colorful garden. It is therefore important to provide them with the love and attention they deserve before summer officially arrives. Trim any dead or damaged limbs or leaves that might be infested with insects. They are often colorless in their appearance and will not feature any blossoming foliage. You can create a healthier, more visually appealing exterior by doing so.

tips-best-gardens

Add a Relaxing Water Feature

Create an oasis of calm and tranquility in your garden by adding a stylish, relaxing water feature into your exterior design. Water-garden.co.uk offers a wide range of water features and effective pumps to help you install a stunning structure, which will create a beautiful focal point in your outdoor space.

Gardening-tips

Keep Unwanted Pests at Bay

Few things are more unpleasant than troublesome insects overtaking your garden and ruining your summer. Ensure you are never tempted to go back inside when the sun is shining by finding ways to keep pests under control. For instance, you should periodically inspect your backyard for garden pests in your trees, shrubs, and bushes, as they could be full with a variety of insects, such as slugs, aphids, or grasshoppers. You can then apply a natural pesticide to banish the insects from your garden effectively.

Also, it might be a good idea to remove select plants from your garden, as some can be a haven for pests. Always do your research on the types of insects a plant attracts before you incorporate them into your backyard.

Buy the Right Outdoor Furniture

There are many ways you can entertain your loved ones in your backyard, such as throwing a family BBQ or garden picnic to hosting an outdoor dinner party for all your friends. In addition to buying sturdy chairs and tables, you should also invest in water-resistant surfaces and cushions, so you will not need to bring the furniture or decorative accessories inside the home if it rains.

Planning A Luxurious-Looking Wedding On A Budget

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Wedding-luxury-tipsPlanning a wedding on a budget can be a daunting task, and if you do not want all of the decorations or the setting to look cheap, you really have to make an effort and get as creative as possible.

We have put together a list of tips and tricks that might be able to assist you in planning the perfect wedding from a visual standpoint, even if you don’t want to ruin your finances for life for the purpose.

The right venue

Best-Tips-wedding

Organizing your reception at a restaurant is probably the most boring (and most used) ideas in the world. However, in the past several decades, buffet weddings have become more and more popular. What that means is that you can rent a fascinating venue such as a gallery, a museum, a historical site, or an aquarium (or zoo) and keep your costs minimal.

Do consider one of these options depending on your professions and hobbies as a couple. The next thing you can do is to consider renting a small private estate or a vacation home. Who hasn’t ever dreamed of a beach wedding in Hawaii? Well, it doesn’t necessarily have to be in Hawaii, but you could at least get the location right, and it might end up on the beach.

Cocktail reception vs. buffet table

We’ve already talked about how we don’t necessarily recommend the classic restaurant reception where everyone sits at the table and enjoys their meal without having the opportunity to interact with the other guests. A buffet is another choice, but the fact is that having a cocktail reception is a lot more elegant by comparison. In fact, the idea of waiters strolling around with deliciously looking hors-d’oeuvres is way more appealing to most guests nowadays. Of course, there shouldn’t be anything stopping you from having the best of the two. You can install a chocolate fountain on a table and allow people to serve themselves and the rest of the food can be served by waiters passing by.

The right lighting can make all the difference

You don’t have to spend a fortune on lights, but the fact is that some are really unique and can be used to accentuate a focal point or change the entire feel of a room. You could also rent several lights, in which case you’ll spend about twelve to thirty-five dollars per each.

Things like light projectors and other such devices might be too expensive to invest in, especially as you will likely have no use for the product after you’ve organized your wedding.

Wedding-guide

An upscale appeal that’s earthy

There are several other ideas you could consider, especially if you love nature or care for the environment. You could put together a 2- to 3-ft vase with a base of river rocks, or add some natural or artificial branches at key points throughout the room. One thing we do have to note, though, and that is that these arrangements should be placed at the entrance of the venue. And what do you know, branches cost little to nothing if you go hiking on the weekends!

Luxury Traveler: Three Good Reasons Why You Should Visit Turks And Caicos

Reading Time: 6 minutes

Turks-and-Caicos-vacations
Some destinations are dream places for holidays and if there is one hot destination for luxury travelers is Turks and Caicos islands. It is an archipelago of 40 low-lying coral islands in the Atlantic Ocean, a British Overseas Territory southeast of the Bahamas. The tropical islands are simply a small paradise on Earth. Some celebrities like Lindsey Vonn or Cara Delevingne have already experienced the farniente of these islands. No matter if you book a hotel or if you wish to experience Turks and Caicos home rentals, any luxury traveler around the world should have at least one holiday booked to this place. So here are three main reasons to convince you to book your next trip to this tropical archipelago.

Turks and Caicos geographical location: easy to access

Turks-and-caicos-location
Turks-and-Caicos-map
The two islands groups are in the North Atlantic Ocean, southeast of the Bahamas, northwest of Puerto Rico, north of Hispaniola, and about 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) from Miami in the United States. The territory is geographically contiguous to the Bahamas, both comprising the Lucayan Archipelago, but is politically a separate entity. The Caicos Islands are separated by the Caicos Passage from the closest Bahamian islands, Mayaguana and Great Inagua. No matter if you are flying from the US, Europe or Asia, you will find very easy to travel to Turks and Caicos (knowing it is a special destination). It is located 1 hour and 9 minutes from Miami, or 2 hours and 36 minutes from New York City by plane. There are direct flights from New York, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Toronto, and London.

Turks and Caicos: gorgeous place to visit.

Probably the first inhabitants of Turks and Caicos were Tainos Indians. For centuries, these paradisiacal islands were under control of Spanish, French and British. Today it is British territory. Despite of so many dominations, neither of these  countries really established themselves in the islands, so things remained pretty much authentic.
The weather is perfect all year long. Temperatures are between 80F and 90F (27C to 32C). There is not much rain and it is commonly said that there is sun 365 days a year. Sometimes there are hurricanes hitting the Caribbean but fortunately for Turks and Caicos, hurricanes tend to pass on the south (Hispaniola) or the north (Bahamas). So you should not be worried about it.
Turks and Caicos is trendy enough to see some happy few joining the party and still a confidential destination that avoids mass-tourism. You will never be bothered by crowds on the beach which will allow you to fully enjoy the amazing scenery. Turks and Caicos beaches are the perfect white powder sand with hints of pink. The ocean has so many shades of blue that will challenge your photo camera!
Amateurs of Golf, will be able to enjoy a beautiful course. Known for its natural, rugged layout through limestone outcroppings, Provo Golf Club combines a great test of golf with the natural flora and fauna of the islands. Fairways are lined with native island bush which combine with inland lakes and numerous palm trees to compliment the beautifully maintained playing surfaces. There is also an abundance of birdlife, with the lakes home to an array of colorful native birds including egrets, various types of heron and waterfowl, and migratory flamingo’s.

Turks-and-Caicos-golf

Turks and Caicos: what to do once you are there

There are plenty of activities to do in Turks and Caicos. If you have enough of the amazing beaches scenery and the magnificent blue ocean, you can definitely find many things to do. Obviously with the sea surroundings we can easily dive, professionally or snorkeling. The region is very rich in sea life. Smith’s Reef appeals to snorkelers at all levels. You can see all sorts of sea animals:

  • Stingrays
  • Turtles
  • Lobsters
  • Colored fish

Some people say Turks and Caicos is probably the best area for underwater activities. It sits on a plateau that rises 10’000 feet (3’000m) up from the surrounding ocean floor. This specific underwater relief makes Turks and Caicos a true sanctuary for wild animals. You can enter the reef area at three different points: north, east and west access. Travelers recommend finding a sandy pathway near the small parking area that will guide you into the water. Action is not only under the sea level, but also above the sea. You can for example comfortably cruise on a catamaran around different islands. Either for the day or for several days, a catamaran cruise is the best way to visit the islands and enjoy nature at its best. If you are looking for more action, you can also enjoy several aquatic activities like Kiteboarding or Parasailing.

Turks-and-caicos-snorkling

Turks-and-Caicos-booking

Kiteboarding (or kitesurfing) is becoming one of the most popular watersports in the Turks and Caicos. At the excellent Long Bay Beach on Providenciales, there can be dozens of kites in the air on a windy day. Parasailing is available in the Grace Bay Beach region of Providenciales and is another exciting way to experience ocean, beaches and sun.

Turks and Caicos is  not only known for its wild nature. You can also get a lot of fun in the evenings and even all night long. Most of the best bars are in hotels, so it is really worth it to leave yours and check out what is going on in the others. Here is a list of the most known bars in the area:

  • The Infinity bar at the Grace Bay Club
  • Deck at the Seven Stars Resort
  • Danny Buoys and Sandbar in Saltmills Plaza
  • Sharkbite in Turtle cove marina
  • Three Queens on Blue Hill road

turks-and-caicos-travel

Most of the bars offer live music and thematic evenings, so you will for sure find something exciting to do every night.

In conclusion, Turks and Caicos is the perfect destination for your holidays. No matter if you are looking for sun in winter or the perfect location for your summer holidays, the archipelago gathers all that is requested to please you.

Hair Rituel by Sisley Paris, Haircare is the new Skincare

0
Reading Time: 13 minutes

Hair-Rituel-By-Sisley-luxury
It has been more than 40 years now that Sisley Paris entered the world of skincare and delivered what nature has at its best into amazing products and formulas. 2018 is a new important milestone. It is the year that Sisley Research is now extending its know-how to hair care, launching its new brand in 2018:
Hair-Rituel-by-Sisley-logo
If you think about it, we have rituals for the face, for the skin, for make-up even. But what about the hair? In deed, we are missing a regular routine to help you have beautiful and gorgeous hair. Obviously in today’s world each minute counts, so Sisley has developed a short, yet very efficient and complete Hair Ritual that should blow your mind by its formulas. There are mainly six products to help you with your day-to-day beauty. One important question we had is why Sisley’s expertise in skincare is valuable for hair care? According to the brand, there are two main raisons for this. The first one is about the cells composition and functioning. Skin cells and hair cells have a lot in common. Even when we compare with the scalp cells, there are a lot of similarities. Obviously also some differences which makes the challenge interesting for such a tremendous skin background. Another interesting point is about the causes that brings “bad hair”. They are pretty much the same as for the skin. Stress, fatigue, pollution and normal genetic ageing are strong factors that can diminish the beauty of your hair.

As always with Sisley, the hair approach is global. For all skins and for both women and men. Each of the six HAIR RITUEL products is formulated with a powerful concentration of botanical extracts and essential oils, minerals, vitamins, and proteins. These ingredients energise the hair bulb and restructure the hair fibre.

Hair Rituel By Sisley: The Range

Hair-Rituel-by-Sisley-the-range
In this solid range of products, there are several elements that contributes to the active properties of each product. The first one is what Sisley calls the “Vitalizing-Fortifying complex”. Made of Zinc, Copper, Magnesium, Vitamin B6, Pro-vitamin B5 and Vitamin E derivative, this complex is associated with Arginine, one of the twenty main natural amino acids that make up proteins and especially keratin. This association helps to promote hair vitality.
The second element is Rice proteins and Vitamin Peptide. This new association should support the densification of the hair fibre. The peptide is a derived from a special combination of three amino acids with Vitamin H. It is quite well known for its action in treating hair loss.
The third interesting element to highlight is an extract of Linseed and Einkorn wheat. This duo should protect your hair’s natural color.
Last but not least, there is also an extraction of Sage. This plant is a gift from gods. Already in the middle-age, it was a very popular plant, present in many gardens. Queens and Princesses would wash their hair with Sage infusions. It would help them keep their hair and scalp healthy.

The complementarity of these active ingredients has a profound effect on restarting the cellular mechanisms of the hair bulb. Day after day, the hair becomes stronger and denser; it is radiant with vitality, as if regenerated.” – Sisley Paris

Hair-Rituel-by-Sisley-range-products
The Hair Rituel by Sisley range, as explained, is built around six important products that should cover the essential care for your hair and scalp. They all work as complementary actions, and of course you can also adapt the program by defining duos, trios and a specific ritual depending on your needs.

  • Revitalizing Voluminizing Shampoo with Camellia Oil – 200ML
  • Revitalizing Smoothing Shampoo with Macadamia Oil – 200ML
  • Restructuring Conditioner with Cotton Proteins – 200ML
  • Regenerating Hair Care Mask with Four botanical Oils – 200ML
  • Revitalizing Fortifying Serum for the Scalp – 60ML
  • Precious Hair Care Oil Glossiness and Nutrition – 100ML

I was lucky enough to being able to try two of the six products. the first one is the Revitalizing Smoothing Shampoo with Macadamia Oil. Sisley will always add a “caring” aspect on all its products. So the purpose of the Shampoo is not only wash your hair but also take care of your scalp and hair health. The first thing to notice is the texture. When pouring some into the palm of the hand, we can see a nice pearly colored texture, somewhere between the shampoo and the conditionner. The second interesting characteristic of this formula is the scent. Very modern and miles away from the traditional fruity, sparkling smells. The fragrance brings a clean, caring and soft scent to the experience, much more contemporary than most of shampoos. Then, the most important: the hair wash. In the first seconds I must confess to be quite positively surprised by the quantity of foam that the Sisley shampoo provides. Very generous. Then while washing the hair we can already feel an effect on the hair that looks more soften and fluid. The experience is pretty good and gentle. In terms of active ingredients, these are the following:

  • Pro-vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin E Acetate
  • Zinc, Copper, Arginine, natural origin Alpha-Bisabolol,
  • Ceramides-like active ingredient
  • Cotton proteins, Shea oil, Macadamia oil, Moringa oil.

Once the hair is dried, we can see that all the product was well washed away. No residues. The hair is soften and gain a good elasticity. No matter if you have short hair or long one, you will definitely enjoy the after result. The hair gain brightness and seem healthy.

As the shampoo is the keystone of any hair range, we thought interesting analyzing the INCI formula. Generally with Sisley is always a tremendous adventure doing that as we always discover best in class formulation approach. We can see there are a lot of natural ingredients and soft ingredients yet efficient blend with haircare best performers.

  1. WATER/EAU (AQUA) – this is purified water.
  2. SODIUM LAUROYL SARCOSINATE – is derived from sarcosine, a natural amino acid found in the human body and just about every type of biological material from animals to plants. Honest’s sarcosine is made from coconut oil.
  3. COCO-GLUCOSIDE – is a natural, non-ionic, surfactant. One of the most gentle of the cleansing agents, making it ideal for all foaming and cleansing products, especially those designed for fragile or sensitive skin.
  4. COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE – is derived from Coconut and helps to create foam.
  5. PEG-120 METHYL GLUCOSE TRIOLEATE – It is a diester of natural Methylglucose and Oleic Acid. It is used in beauty products and cosmetics as a surfactant and emulsifier. It is used as a thickener in hair and skin care products.
  6. GLYCERIN – is a humectant, designed to bring moisture in and retain it. In hair products, glycerin works to draw moisture onto your hair and provides a barrier to keep the moisture locked in.
  7. SODIUM COCOYL GLUTAMATE – is a mild vegetable-based surfactant (foaming ingredient) derived from from coconut or palm kernel oil and glucose from corn. It is recognized as a natural ingredient by the Natural Product Association and certified by Ecocert, the first certification body to develop standards for natural and organic.
  8. PANTHENOL – a very popular ingredient for shampoos. It is celebrated for moisturizing, thickening and boosting hair’s body quotient.
  9. PENTYLENE GLYCOL – is commonly used as a skin conditioning agent, due to its ability to help the skin attract and retain moisture. As such, it falls into a category of skin care ingredients called humectants. Other ingredients in this group also include honey or aloe vera. Additionally, it also has some anti microbial properties, which can make it a valuable addition to the formula.
  10. FRAGRANCE (PARFUM) – The scent of the formula, including the last 2 ingredients in the INCI formula.
  11. ARGININE – This amino acid, which is produced by our body too, helps relaxing the blood vessels and improves the flow of blood to the scalp and the base of hair, fighting hair loss.
  12. BISABOLOL – The primary component of the essential oil extracted from chamomile. It can effectively stimulate and promote the skin’s healing process and encourage healthy hair growth.
  13. MACADAMIA INTEGRIFOLIA SEED OIL – Oil from edible macadamia nuts. It functions as a skin conditioning and emollient agent.
  14. MORINGA OLEIFERA SEED OIL – comes from the seeds of Moringa Oleifera Tree. This fresh smelling oil has been known as a natural hair cleanser for ages. It moisturizes the scalp, fights the aging mechanism and help you gain stronger hair. It strengthens your hair by delivering important minerals and vitamins to the hair follicles.
  15. PYRIDOXINE HCL – is a form of vitamin B6 that helps keep your hair strong.
  16. BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER – This is the well known Shea Butter. It helps moisture and fights aging.
  17. TOCOPHERYL ACETATE – also known as Vitamin E acetate. It can penetrate through the skin to the living cells, where about 5% is converted to free tocopherol and provides beneficial antioxidant effects
  18. MAGNESIUM ASPARTATE – is believed to be a mineral transporter to metabolizing cells, aiding in the metabolic process by replenishing vital electrolytes thereby contributing to efficient energy production.
  19. ZINC GLUCONATE – is a Zinc compound often added to dandruff shampoos to help reduce shedding
  20. HYDROLIZED COTTONSEED PROTEIN – it is a hair conditioning-agent derived from the Cotton
  21. PALMITOYL MYRISTYL SERINATE – it is also a hair conditioning-agent
  22. COPPER GLUCONATE – Also known simply as copper, this mineral is an important trace element for human nutrition. The body needs copper to absorb and use iron, and copper is also a component of the powerful antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase. Copper gluconate is a potentially exciting anti-aging ingredient.
  23. BIOTIN – is a water-soluble B-vitamin, also called vitamin B7 and formerly known as vitamin H. This ingredient is known to fight hair loss and maintain your hair strong and healthy.
  24. PEG-18 GLYCERYL OLEATE/COCOATE – This is generally used as a stabilizer and a thickener. Often we considered it as well as a Skin-Conditioning Agent because of its emollient, surfactant and emulsifying agent role.
  25. CITRIC ACID – It has two main roles. The first is to adjust the pH of the shampoo so it matches well with the hair. If the shampoo is to acidic for example, the scales of the hair will lay flat and the result will be poor. It also has a preservation action, preventing any bacterial development.
  26. SODIUM CHLORIDE – it is used as a thickener in low quantities, that is why it ends up so low in the list.
  27. POLYQUATERNIUM-22 – it is a film forming and great hair fixative. It can help delivering the formula to the hair, therefore an interesting ingredient for a shampoo.
  28. PEG-8 – Sulfactant and emulsifying agent, helping in the balance of the formula
  29. PROPANEDIOL – derived from Corn, it is also called propylene glycol. It is a preservative quite well known in the skincare industry.
  30. STYRENE/ACRYLATES COPOLYMER – it is a film former for improved hair surface luster.
  31. POLYQUATERNIUM-47 – it is a film former and facilitates moisture to the hair.
  32. DISODIUM EDTA – it helps preserving the product once it is open. It enhances foaming which is an interesting aspect for shampoos.
  33. PEG-8/SMDI COPOLYMER – it has skin emollient and conditioning activities.
  34. TRETASODIUM EDTA – is a chelating agent, used to sequester and decrease the reactivity of metal ions that may be present in a product so it will not be deposit in the hair.
  35. TRISODIUM PHOSPHATE – it is used as a cleaning agent, lubricant and degreaser. It is an interesting ingredient to have in low quantities as it helps the balance of a shampoo formula.
  36. SODIUM POLYACRYLATE – it is a formula thickener and has the ability to absorbe around 200 times its weight in water.
  37. SODIUM HYDROXIDE – it is present in shampoo formulas in order to balance the formula pH.
  38. PHENOXETHANOL – it is the new star in cosmetics and skincare in general. It is a great alternative to Parabens as a preservative.
  39. SODIUM BENZOATE – found naturally in cranberries, prunes, plums, cinnamon or in apples, it is used as a preservative in cosmetics.
  40. BENZOIC ACID – it is also a preservative and helps the incorporation of fragrance into a beauty product.
  41. POTASSIUM SORBATE – this is also a preservative, protecting the formula, especially once the product is opened.
  42. LIMONENE is listed in the INCI formula as a potential allergen to some people. It is generally present in the fragrance formula that is added to the shampoo. Legislations requires the labelling of this ingredient in order to help people sensitive to it to be aware. This same legislation orders a certain limit in terms of used quantity.
  43. CITRAL – Same as Limonene.

In conclusion to the analysis of the INCI formula, we can see a well structured shampoo. What I keep from this formula is the gentle cleaning ingredients, the usage of coconut derivatives, shear butter and macadamia oil that represent a great team to help taking care of your hair. There is also a good intention in providing a pleasant experience under the shower and find a good balance between foam and texture. A few elements are also there to help balance the formula and have a very professional feeling and result. So it shows that Sisley took seriously the business of haircare and came with a good product.

The second product tested was the Revitalizing Fortifying Serum. This powerful product is designed to be applied to dry or damp hair, part by part (three dropperfuls on the scalp), then massaged with the fingertips, particularly in areas where hair is falling out. This truly intensive course of treatment is to be used every other day for one month, then twice weekly for two months for maintenance. I tried on dry-hair. After placing 3 dropperfuls, I massaged my scalp for several minutes and then waited a little while. Personally I felt to wash it away as I am not experienced to leave such a product in my scalp.  In terms of main ingredients, we have:

  • Pro-vitamin B5, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin E Acetate
  • Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Arginine, natural origin Alpha-Bisabolol
  • Rice proteins, Einkorn wheat extract and Lin

The formula is quite strong, so I would not advice to use it every day. I would more use it once in a while as a treatment.  revitalizing-serum-hair-sisley

Reasons You Deserve To Treat Yourself

Reading Time: 8 minutes

You go through a range of experiences and emotions during your lifetime that sometimes warrants some ‘me’ time. Many people find the notion of treating themselves as indulgent or that you might not have time to take out of your busy schedule to evaluate things. Treating yourself occasionally doesn’t have to be about buying things either, as just getting some relaxation or space to breathe can help you see things in a different light. With the stresses and pressures of everyday life, there will be times where you don’t feel enough recognition has been given or you feel sufficiently rewarded for your achievements. Even if someone else doesn’t acknowledge these, this doesn’t mean you aren’t entirely deserving of some praise. So if you feel like you need an excuse to have a little treat, take a look at some of the top reasons why you totally deserve it.

It can make you happier

It’s no surprise that treating yourself every now and again makes you happier on the inside and out. If you’re feeling at a particularly low ebb, then finding something that can cheer you up will work wonders for your mood. One of the most frequent times that you might feel unhappy or demotivated is when you are trying to save some cash, and you feel like you are depriving yourself of treats to satisfy your savings goals. Although you know the end goal is going to be amazing, in the meantime it can actually make you feel quite low that you can’t just go out and buy or do what you want to, or have some downtime.

self-indulgence-luxury

At this point in time, it is important to allocate some money in your monthly budget to accommodate this treat time and make the most of the small yet significant amount of time and money you have to enjoy yourself. Treating yourself also doesn’t have to involve going out and buying the latest things, but if this is your idea of happiness, then go ahead and spend some cash or take a look at these credit cards for the best deals on purchases. Treating yourself might also come down to creating some time for yourself, so making sure you get this alone time can help you to feel refreshed and revived for a better state of mind.

You feel re-energized

Treating yourself has this helpful little way of making you feel fantastic, which in turn can make you feel reenergized and full of life. This type of feeling is especially great when you are feeling run down due to work commitments or stressful lifestyle situations that you need to take a break from. Feeling refreshed in the instances can bring a new outlook to problems and situations, and assist you in making better choices or bringing new ideas to the table. The perfect treat to yourself on a small scale is taking some time away from your desk each day. If you often feel tied to your office because you have so much work to do and feel guilty for taking any time away, then it’s time to change your mindset. This unhealthy viewpoint can actually stall productiveness and tasks may take longer to complete. So stepping away and going for a walk could help improve your work and give you a new viewpoint on your time management. Your overall wellbeing can be significantly enhanced when you decide to give yourself some time to relax and rejuvenate, so why not take a look at where you could make some time for yourself during the day or book that much-needed vacation time to start looking after your health and mental state.

You will give back more

If you’re continually feeling down or are just generally grumpy, you’re probably not much fun to be around, so giving yourself some much-needed timeout can help lift your spirits. This isn’t just good for you; it’s also great for everyone around you too. Treating yourself is ideal for making time for your needs and experiencing things that can make you happy which, in turn, rubs off on your attitude and outlook on life. This can help in all areas of your life including work relationships, family connections and building better friendships. This ‘me’ time can also help you re-evaluate the people you have in your life and how you can contribute to making their lives better or easier with advice or support when they need it most.

Treating yourself can set you in a better mood to resolve conflicts too, as some relationships can be more difficult than others. This new mindset will help you to overcome barriers and bring resolutions to the table with a positive attitude and could create the foundations for better communication and healthy relationships in the future. A positive outlook could also see you improve in workplace environments too, as this new approach and motivation to time management and productivity will see better working practices and results. Treating yourself and taking some time out could be great for your career and may help you to land that promotion to further your prospects.

You’ll be more motivated

One of the driving forces in being able to treat yourself is the motivation to succeed so you can enjoy it without feeling any guilt. This feeling is great for getting you focused on goals you want to achieve and helps you find better ways to realize them. An excellent way to give yourself treats is setting up a rewards system. This type of scheme is designed to provide you with some pointers and goals to work towards so that you can enjoy the fruits of your labor. It might be that you have a savings goal in mind and want to blow the cash on a lavish vacation once you hit the target or it might be that you need to finish a project to be able to take some time off and totally relax. Whatever the driving force is, motivation is contagious, and once you have achieved one goal, you’ll have the motivation and drive to move forward with others. This, in turn, can have amazing effects on both personal life and work life objectives and provides the catalyst to do better each time. In family life and friendship circles your motivation will also rub off on those closest to you, and this could help them see things in a different light and help them set their own goals. In work situations, you will enjoy getting work completed in a fast and accurate manner, and this could result in more responsibility and a promotion, which in turn leads to pay increases for the ultimate result. With better prospects, you’ll be able to treat yourself to more things and task advantage of this new lease of life.

well-being-for-oneself

Avoid burnout

With a busy lifestyle and hectic workloads, burn out is a common occurrence. Putting too much pressure on yourself and struggling to meet timescales can have a negative influence on health and wellbeing. If you allow some time to treat yourself, whether this is some time out for a few days or just some a few minutes away from your computer, it can all help towards avoiding total burnout. Work is one of the leading areas that can affect this part of your life and if you feel stressed with projects, taking a step back will be more productive than powering through in a sad state of mind. If you don’t treat yourself at this point, you’ll also take longer to recover in the long-term, which may mean you need a more extended vacation or time to consider your options. Today’s lifestyle trends seem to highlight being busy, as a positive thing but being busy doesn’t necessarily mean being productive so it’s important to consider what you’d rather be. Regular treats or timeout can also be great for health and avoids the need for time off due to fatigue and stress, which is of benefit to both you and your employer.

It’s fun

Of course, one of the best reasons to treat yourself is the fun you can have doing it. Shopping trips with friends, vacations with family and time away from work are some of the best things about rewarding yourself for bringing in that hard-earned paycheck. Fun also doesn’t have to be expensive either, as there are heaps of things to do at affordable prices from visiting local attractions to taking a staycation rather than jetting abroad. If you’ve built up some savings over a period of time, your reward might just include splashing the cash as you please and enjoying every second of it. This little trinket of positivity can help you in so many ways and give you back that spark you might have been missing lately.

Don’t ever feel guilty for treating yourself because if you’ve worked hard for it, then taking the time for those little rewards will help you reap the benefits for a healthy outlook on life and work.
