Design was often made to serve functionality. But some talented designers bring something more. Boca do Lobo always proposes exclusive designs made by inspiring people. Discover the Emporium chair – limited edition – by Marco Costa. You never saw something like it.
Marco Costa is a self-taught artist and he finds his inspiration in Surrealism. He transcends design and function into a more intense experience. In hour case here the chair has only 3 legs !
This piece was conceived with the goal of questioning the notion of space and what is established by usage or not. 2 main parameters are interesting to highlight despite the design and construction: the usage of Aluminum and the different colours proposed.
There is a sense of fun and frivolity but as the same time it has something of dramatic. A brilliant paradox. All hand-crafted. According to Boca do Lobo: “Marco dares to create a design piece so eloquently because the focus of his approach is to explore the fragility of our humanity by revealing the beauty in imperfection“.
3 colors are available today: Silver, Gold and Copper.

Perfection can be many times boring, so spice up your life with this amazing chair by Marco Costa.
Most of the time, Chanel has a edgy purpose and we can consider this brand as a trend-maker. But for its summer make-up collection, they came up 2 years too late with the theme. Other brands like Lancôme did it already. If we would choose an hashtag for that, it would be this one: #Fail
Indeed, someone should have said that the Butterflies theme was 2 years ago. And if you look to the photo itself, the mascara on the low lashes is not well done. Looks messy. This is what Lancôme for example did.
In terms of colours, Chanel did also pick up a very Lancôme style palette. It reminds me the Fred farruggia era and even Aaron de Mey is pursuing this path. Here a visual from 2011 summer trends by Aaron de Mey..
Lancôme have been very avant-garde in terms of Make-up trend and this year Chanel got it wrong. At least you can still use your 2011 colour palette this summer.
On the Chanel website, you can see the following mood video. Is it Vanessa Paradis? The thing is that we cannot 100% recognize her and at the same time the model looks like her. Strange. For a summer collection, we would have expected a much more brighter environment rather being in the dark.
Any way. So let’s see finally what Lancôme has to offer this summer, that, according to me looks much more into this summer trend. It is energizing, young and much more exact.
Lancôme put on stage Emma Watson, the brand young egerie. The collection is a burst of youth and energy. The radiance of the sun placed in a collection of trendy make-up.
While in Fashion, Chanel has always the right “words”, in Make-up things are getting a little “disconnected”.

Next month, La Fondation de l’Hermitage will present a new exhibition about Miro called “Poésie et Lumière”, Poetry and Light in french. It will take place from June 28th until October 27th 2013. More than 80 works by Joan Miró will be exhibited (1893 – 1983). All works come from Pilar i Joan Miro Foundation in Palma de Majorca.
The Miró foundation in Majorca holds a very important amount of the artist’s work and represents a very interesting place to visit.
Here is a video presenting the foundation and for more information you can visit their official website: http://miro.palmademallorca.es
About the incoming exhibition at L’Hermitage now. According to them: “The exhibition concentrates on the works of his maturity, created during the last thirty years of his life in the Majorcan workshop where the great master lived from 1956 until his death 1983.”
The exhibition will follow chronologically the work of the artist but also divide the collection by themes. It will be the final part of the artist work before his death, so at that period he is accomplished as an artist and as a man.
The 60’s and the 70’s were populated with strong and bright colours. Birds, women or even landscapes were important subjects for the artist.
Mosaic 1966Poetry 1966Woman in the street 1973
To complete the exhibition, a scenographic reconstitution of the artist’s studio in Palma will be presented as well as many objects, photos and biographical material.
We were all waiting for it. Elīna Garanča dresses once more the amazing role of Carmen of Bizet at the Wiener Staatsoper for a couple of dates. A role that was made for her.
When Georges Bizet wrote and revealed Carmen in 1875, he would not imagine that one day a Blond singer would invest the role of Carmen. Nevertheless the role of Carmen is a passionate role and Ms Garanča has it. The performance is not only about the singing, but also about the tremendous sensual energy that the character of Carmen emanates. The first Carmen was Célestine Galli-Marié. She was known for her personality, her passion for Opera and her youth. She settled the tone for Carmen. The first triumph for Carmen happened in Wien in 1875, which is a great story when you know that 138 years after, Wien is still loyal to Bizet’s Opera.
Photo: Félix Nadar
The role of Carmen is ambiguous in its range: in fact, it presents requirements mezzo-soprano as well as dramatic soprano. Therefore, many sopranos as mezzos have addressed this very famous role. Thus, Maria Callas, whose real tessitura still raises doubts, sang the role; dramatic sopranos or Lirico spinto also sang Carmen, as Victoria de los Angeles, Leontyne Price and Julia Migenes-Johnson. Finally, some of the greatest Carmen were mezzos-sopranos as Elīna Garanča, Beatrice Uria Monzon, Marilyn Horne and Marina Domashenko. The Cinema also got very interested on the story of Carmen as there were 19 movies from 1915 to 2006. From Charlie Chaplin (1915) to Jean-Luc Godard (1983) and Robert Townsend with Beyonce in 2001. We can see that it is a universal reference.
Ok, so now back to 2013 and the Wiener Staatsoper. Under the conduction of Bertrand de Billy, the new Carmen has a very prestigious cast.
Here is what Ms Garanca said about the role of Carmen 3 years ago to Bjorn Woll (als) / Deutsche Welle:
You’ve gained particular fame recently in the role of Carmen. Is that your dream role?
I’d be lying if I said that Carmen has always been my dream role. No, Amneris in [Giuseppe Verdi’s opera]”Aida” is my dream role, but it’s going to be a few years before I can sing it. But it’s true that Carmen is an appealing role and character.
Why is that?
Carmen is a prototype, and every singer tries to portray this prototype differently, without slipping into traditional cliches – even if you have to imply some of the cliches at times, because they’re written into the music. Also, one has to measure up to the great singers of the past in that role – both vocally and in terms of performance. But that’s also the challenge: to present a character in a unique manner. To say, I’m going to swing my hips this way now!
So femininity and swinging your hips are part of the role?
Of course! But it’s sensuality, not sexuality, that’s important for me with Carmen. Sexuality means different things to different people, naturally – one might like sado-masochism, while someone else likes white sheets and candles. And neither is wrong or right – to each his own. But with Carmen, sensuality and femininity often get lost, especially when big-bosomed singers holding their hands on their hips try to be sex bombs.Do not hesitate to check Elīna Garanča online sites: http://www.elinagaranca.com https://www.facebook.com/elinagaranca https://twitter.com/elinagaranca

Some music groups became legends in time and after a while, others like Daft Punk built their own legend since the first album. Now 20 years after the first album they are back and damn… it is really good. Flashback.
The origins of Daft Punk
It all started in 1987 when Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Emmanuel de Homem-Christo met in high school in Paris. They started doing some samples and doing music together.
In 1991, with Laurent Brancowitz (later the leading guitar of Phoenix) they founded Darlin’. We can say everything went very fast at that time. As soon as the group was formed, they record 2 singles: Darlin’, a cover from The Beach Boys, and Cindy So Loud under the english label Duophonic. But the way things started fast it also ended up fast. Indeed the group did not find the success hoped. They only sold 1’500 records.
The british magazine, Melody Maker, ended up the story with the comment about their music: “Daft Punky trash”, basically idiot punk. The magazine itself could not imagine that they just gave the right motivation to Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo to move on and make their own music. In 1993, the 2 friends create Daft Punk.
What is very interesting to understand here is that at this very same time, a new stream from House music is born in France. Called the “French Touch” or French House, the defining characteristics of this specific sound are heavy reliance on filter and phaser effects both on and alongside samples from late 1970s and early 1980s American or European disco tracks. It ruled the european scene from 1990 to 2000. The key ambassadors of this music stream was Daft Punk, Cassius and Etienne de Crecy. Most tracks in this vein feature steady 4/4 beats with a tempo range of 110–130 bpms.
Soon the Daft Punk adopted a very distinctive look thanks to their helmets. They tell a story that one day they were doing the DJ and the material explosed in order to become their helmed. Not so sure about that story. What we do know is that these 2 helmets became the central attraction of all.
Some people will say that they use the helmets because they are sad, others imagine the Daft Punk retired and other people would take over. Basically there are many descriptions. Here a short flashback into the Daft Punk discography.
1997 – First album called HOMEWORK
Released by Virgin records in january 1997, This first album was a huge blast into the electronic scene. 16 songs and not less than 5 singles extracted from it: Alive, Da Funk, Burnin, Revolution 909 and the planetary huge blockbuster Around the world, . This album brought the spotlights to all french house and the world knew that Daft Punk was born. According to Virgin the original plan was to print only 50’000 copies… well, after almost 3 million copies later we can see that the success over crossed all ambitions of that time.
Here is the video clip for Around the world. It became a major club hit around the world and arrived at #1 in dance charts. The song is known for its only lyrics being “Around the World”. It is also known for its music video, which was directed by Michel Gondry and choreographed by Blanca Li.
First world tour for the Daft Punk from October to December 1997. This tour defined what we would call the “Daft Punk sound”, a edgy filtered House. Here is one of the rare TV appearence of the group (without masks) in 1999 on the Swiss magazine Lineup. The video is provided by Breew. Unique! French language.
2001 – The second album called DISCOVERY
In 2001 Daft Punk launches their first Live album called Alive 1997 with only one 43 minutes track without pause. And just after that the album DISCOVERY is born. 14 tracks and this time 6 singles: One more time, Aerodynamic, Digital Love, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. , Face to Face and Something about us. According to Thomas Bangalter:
“This album has a lot to do with our childhood and the memories of the state we were in at that stage of our lives. It’s about our personal relationship to that time. It’s less of a tribute to the music from 1975 to 1985 as an era, and more about focusing on the time when we were zero to ten years old. When you’re a child you don’t judge or analyze music. You just like it because you like it...”
The album provided itself the entire soundtrack for the animation movie called Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. Directed by Leiji Matsumoto, the creator of Captain Harlock. This movie was silent, with no dialogs a part the music itself. If you want to remember this amazing project, here is the full video in HD of it:
Discovery sold for more than 2.6 million albums, only 792’ooo copies in the USA. It is a huge worldwide success and the single “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” was a tremendous hit. It was also the exploration of a robotic vocal performance by Daft Punk that became their signature. In 2003 the group releases an album of remixes from their previous albums Homework and Discovery. Remixes were accomplished by Basement Jaxx, Slum Village and Daft Punk.
2005 – The third album called HUMAN AFTER ALL
This third album was launched in march 2005 with 4 official singles: Robot Rock, Technologic, Human After All and The Prime time of Your Life. Despite the aim of the group to declare their human side with the album title, we realize that songs like The Prime Time of Your Life, Television Rules the Nation or Technologic claim a escapism towards a complete dehumanization of human kind. You can see it here in the official video for Technologic:
With this album, Daft Punk got many critics from the music industry but also from the fans. Considered as not as innovative as the previous ones, some of the tracks were quite repetitive. The entire album was recorded in only 6 weeks and it is considered by Daft Punk themselves as their preferred. They got a very interesting visibility with the single Technologic thanks to Apple’s Ipod advertising. At that time all Apple ipod commercials were created with a highly innovative background music never heard, never seen, basically Apple was at that time the King of the cool. Check here the commercial with the Daft Punk soundtrack.
In 2006 they present at the french Cannes Film festival their first movie called Daft Punk’s Electroma. The pitch revolves around the quest of two robots (the band members, played by Peter Hurteau and Michael Reich) to become human. The music featured in this film is not by Daft Punk. The movie did not received great critics and during the projection at Cannes Festival, some people even left the room before the end. The soundtrack had some great names like Brian Eno or Sébastien Tellier. In 2007 you could only watch this movie in one cinema in Paris (France) and in one cinema. Here is the entire film if you wish to watch it.
June 2007, Daft Punk records a live album called Alive 2007 and it is released in november of the same year. 12 songs all from previous albums and all remixed for the live show. They will get a Grammy later on for this album.
2008, TRON LEGACY – The soundtrack.
For the sequel of the legendary TRON, movie released in 1982 and considered as the first movie in history to use computer effects, Daft Punk were chosen to create the soundtrack. Launched in December 2010, a couple of month before the movie release, the album was recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo commented that “We knew from the start that there was no way we were going to do this film score with two synthesizers and a drum machine.”
Here is the official presentation of Derezzed from the motion picture Tron Legacy:
2013, the 4th album called RANDOM ACCESS MEMORIES
If we consider that Human After All was the previous “real album” from Daft Punk, it’s been 8 years. A lot. With Random Access Memories, Daft Punk are back with a powerful album. It pays the tribute to the sound of the 70’s and the 80’s era in the USA, especially the sounds from Los Angeles. From country rock in the 70’s (Eagles) towards more rock with Fleetwood mac up to all the punk rock influence that set up the beginning of the grunge of 90’s, the west coast was definitely different from what was going on at that time in New York, Atlanta, Chicago or Detroit. Unlike their previous studio albums, Daft Punk recruited session musicians to record live instrumentation in professional studio locations. The duo limited the use of electronic instruments to drum machines, a modular synthesizer, and vintage vocoders. So a kind of back to basics for Daft Punk. Several collaborations are to mention like Pharrell Williams, Panda Bear, Julian Casablancas, Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon, Chilly Gonzales, Paul Williams and to mention Nile Rodgers (Chic) and the synthetiser god Giorgio Moroder. The first one played the guitar in many tracks like Give Life Back to Music, Lose Yourself to Dance or Get Lucky (the first single). The song number 3 in the album is called Giorgio by Moroder. was a collaboration with Giorgio Moroder. It tells the story of Giovanni Giorgio Moroder, the father of Transe music and one of the responsibles to bring the synthetiser into music. He wrote the soundtrack of amazing movies like Scarface, Metropolis or the folowing leading him to award recognition:
Oscar in 1973 for Midnight Express soundtrack
Golden Globe for best original song in 1983 for Flashdance theme.
Oscar and Golden Globe for best original song for Top Gun (Take my breath away)
Here is the extended video from the Midnight Express movie theme. You will be able to see how logical the work with Daft Punk is.
What can we say more? That we are so pleased to see Daft Punk back in force. Only they could release such sound in 2013 and we are happy they did it. You can find the album here:
There is also a dedicated website in which you can watch several videos showing the different collaborators to the album. You can see it here: http://www.randomaccessmemories.com

Every year Sisley surprises us with a great range of products for Summer. This year discover the new Super Stick Solaire and the new Self Tanning Body care.
This year Sisley is expanding its sun care range with a new water-resistant Sun protection stick created exclusively for the sensitive areas of the face.
SUPER STICK SOLAIRE
Every year it is always the same thing. Which sun care product should I choose for this summer season? And every year we always hesitate. Especially when it comes to the face as we are always concerned by our face skin. Sisley brings the perfect solution for it by launching the new Super Stick.
Sisley research selected broad spectrum UVA and UVB mineral screens, composed of micronised zinc AnD titanium oxides, specially adapted for the most sensitive areas of the face. The skin’s natural defenses are strengthened by vitamin e Acetate, an antioxidant which helps skin combat free radicals.
As a result the most sensitive areas of the face are better protected from solar erythema, dryness and the visible effects of photo- ageing: wrinkles and fine lines, dark spots and skin slackening.
In addition, Sisley laboratories developed an incomparable formula and texture in order to make the usage of this product a true experience. With active ingredients like Camellia oil, Mango butter and Shea butter, the Super Stick Solaire has an amazing emollient and nourishing properties.
And because summer time means often sea bath or swimming pool bath, the product is water-water-resistant. This makes it perfect for sports and outdoor activities.
It fits all skins, women and men, and provides a very elegant matt finish. Sisley created 2 types of formula: colorless and tinted. The first one is a more unisex version, designed for the entire family. The tinted version will be perfect for tanned skin or for a healthy-glow effect. As it has a sheer compact foundation effect it is more suitable for women.
The Range is now a pretty complete range with 5 products for the face and 4 products for the body.
Super crème Solaire visage Spf 10 UVA
Grand ecran Solaire visage Spf 30 UVA
Super ecran Solaire visage Spf 50+ UVA
Sunleÿa Soin Solaire Anti-Age visage Spf 15 UVA
Sunleÿa Soin Après Soleil Anti-Age visage
Super huile Solaire corps Spf 6 UVA
Super crème Solaire corps Spf 15 UVA
Super fluide Solaire corps Spf 30 UVA
Super Soin Après-Soleil Tan extender
The way the Super Stick solaire is produced makes it very practical. With a compact shape you can carry it everywhere from your pocket to your bag. With one hand you can take the stick out and use it wisely in the different places of your face. Non sticky the texture literally melts on your skin for a natural effect. It is definitely the must have for this summer.
SUPER SELF TANNING HYDRATING BODY SKIN CARE
Sometimes you do not have the time or the occasion for a perfect sun bath. Rather than looking like snow white, just take the option of using one of the most advanced products in the market. And this is the Super Self-tanning hydrating Body skin care by Sisley. An all-in-one product that will provide a perfect alternative to sun-bath.
After the last year successful launch of Self tanning for the skin, 2013 completes the Sisley offer in a very demanding market segment, the self tanning.
3 main effect on this perfect formula.
A perfect tanning for the perfect skin, with a very natural result. DHA and Erythrulose is the winning couple as it procures a progressive and natural effect, compatible with all skins including the most sensitive ones.
Let’s not forget the moisturizing action, as key element of a beautiful skin. Very often self tanning products dry your skin and the usage of a complementary product is requested. With the new Sisley Self tanning body care everything is included. Wild Pansy flower and Chestnut extracts guaranty to keep water in the skin. In addition, Stevia leaf, vegetal glycerin and sunflower oil play an important role to soften and to smooth the skin. To complete the effect, an antioxidant active was added: Vitamin E Acetate.
Final but not least, the Milk texture is a real pleasure. It is very fresh and non-sticky. This makes the new Self tanning for the body an amazing summer experience . With a light fragranced formula, it masks the scent of DHA and your application becomes a true pleasure for the senses. You can use it occasionally for a healthy effect or ore often for a more intense result.
Get ready for this summer and allow your skin to “feel” beautiful. LA

Fron May until October 2013, the Swiss artist Didier Guex, exhibit his some of his sculptures at the Parc of General Guisan Centre in Lausanne – Switzerland.
Discover this unique artist through a selection of iconic pieces of art. The program:
Outside the centre, at the gardens facing the lake: 14 sculptures plaster on metal.
Inside, at Espace Pohl: 2 Bronze, 4 stones, 3 aluminium, 2 patinated plasters and 2 made of concreet.
Also inside we can see 7 paintings: mixed techniques on carton.
2 tryptiques
3 Acrylics on canvas
The General Guisan centre is a beautiful property by the Lake Geneva in the city of Lausanne. Its garden welcomes exhibitions, mostly sculptures and faces the lake for a breathtaking view.
The Centre is located at General Guisan Pully place near Lausanne, in a park with an area of one hectare along the Leman. It is a privileged place for meetings, study and memory.
Under the name of Green Bank, the property was home until his death in 1960, General Guisan, commander of the Swiss Army during the Second World War 1939-1945
Property of the Swiss Confederation in 1971, Green Bank is now managed by a private association center.
And since beginning of May you can discover the universe of Didier Guex, a brilliant Swiss and self-made artist. He uses different techniques to create. It goes from the plaster and metal we have here up to Bronze, Stone, aluminum, concrete or patinated plaster.
Here are 14 sculptures plaster on metal exposed in the gardens and 12 sculptures inside the centre at the Espace Pohl.
Here are some shots made by Cédric Dauch during the visit of the exhibition.
All these works of plaster on metal, shows a more decadent vision of men. Adding some accessories like a fishnet on all sculptures makes it more “human”. Some of the sculptures are very surprising, others look more like a study on body’s anatomy. In both cases, all sculptures are well placed, taking the best each visitor will be ready to give afterwards,
The exhibition will run until october 2013. Here are some useful information. The gardens are often opened. So if you are walking around by the Lake Geneva, between Ouchy and Pully.
