iPhone 4G, wait and SEE.

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Apple declared they will ship the new iPhone this summer. So it means we will have a nice 4G Holidays. Here is a video that shows you exactly how the iPhone 4G looks like without any special effects, or blurring or whatever.

Here some specs:

  • Multitasking.
  • Spell check (like on the iPad).
  • Bluetooth keyboard support (again, on the iPad).
  • User-defined wallpaper (a jailbreak favorite).
  • Tap to focus when recording video, just like with photos, and a 5x digital zoom for the camera.
  • Playlist creation and nested playlists.
  • App folders for sorting apps! You can even put an app folder in the dock.
  • Enhanced Mail! You can have a merged inbox view, switch between inboxes quickly, and sync to more than one Exchange account. There’s also threaded messaging (at last!) and in-app attachment viewing.
  • iBooks, just like on iPad, only smaller. You can wirelessly sync books between platforms, a la Kindle.
  • Enterprise features, including remote device management and wireless app distribution.
  • Game Center. It’s like Xbox Live, but for iPhone games. Includes achievements, leaderboards, and match making. It will be available as a “developer preview,” and out for consumers later this year.

Are you going to change your iPhone 3G to the 4G ?

Bleu de Chanel… hoping that Scorsese will hit high.

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Bleu de ChanelFinally we know the name of the new masculine fragrance of Chanel. It is Bleu de Chanel (Blue of Chanel). The fragrance was created, as usually by Jacques Polge the perfumerJacquesPolgeinhouse. The incredible thing is that most of latest Chanel fragrance names exist inhouse for more than 50 years. Mademoiselle was a fragrance created by Ernest Beaux in 1945. Beige was created in 1930 as well as Bleu. And they have hundreds of historical fragrances with incredible names. Here some examples: Glamour de Chanel, Rouge de Chanel, Ambre de Chanel, Une idée de Chanel (brilliant idea!), Ivoire, Three moods, MAdemoiselle Chanel N°31 et N°2, Cynique (I love it), N°s 20, 27, 14, 18, 55, 11, 31, 46 et 10. And these represent only a few examples…Le1940BeigedeChanel

But any way, Bleu will be a new story. And of course, as Chanel always think big, they hired the biggest director ever: Martin Scorsese, just that!!! As a french brand, the 26 years old actor Gaspard Ulliel was chosen. His career is pretty “french” but we must say he played the role ofCHANEL_Martin_Scorsese_Gaspard_UllielHannibal Lecter in the film Hannibal Rising (4th film but a prequel to Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs). So he is a young but a sulfurous actor. The only detail we know is the soundtrack. It is a Rolling Stone music called “She said yeah”. Here is the song… I predict that Scorsese and the Stones suppose rock n Roll !

The new fragrance will be available on the 19th of August with 2 sizes: 50ML (54€)  and 100ML (74€).

I look foward checking the TV AD as soon as it is ready.

Marc Jacobs Big BANG….

Reading Time: 2 minutes

bang MJIt is official, Marc Jacobs is launching a new fragrance. The Fashion Gourou had a very elegant and discrete start in the perfumery business through Marc Jacobs Perfume and Marc Jacobs Men. I must confess I do not remember the feminine one launched in 2001 (White floral bouquet) but I still have in mind the nice sharp and soft spicy figtree fragrance for men he launched in 2002. Then Mr Jacobs got into the Cologne  with the Splash collection since 2005.

2007 is the launch of Daisy, a nice fresh and crispy green floral, very poetic and back to basics. The perfect hint of elegance for a young woman. Daisy was the last subtle fragrance of Marc Jacobs and since then, he explore a much more personal and over-exposed work. It started with Lola in 2009, an incredible fragrance bottle revealing a floral rich oriental. This was the first step of Marc Jacob as Pope of Fashion.

Today here is the masculine answer to Lola: BANG. If you see any similarities to Tom Ford, please do… I am impressed to see how extraverted he became. The advertising is Mr Jacobs himself as a Gym Queen hiding his intimacy with a XXXXL bottle of Bang Eau de Toilette. The advertising campaign was shoot by Jurgen Teller. Mr Teller is a german photograph. After his photography studies in Munich, he installed himself in London in 1986. Since then he became very popular thanks to his work for popular fashion magazines like The Face, i-D, Arena, Dazed & Confused, Visionnaire, Vogue, Purple, Paradis. He also works with Marc Jacob for a couple of years now. He was resposable for different fashion campaings on the Brand. See below some of my prefered ones.

Today he reveals a new Marc Jacobs, the real one?

Gaultier out of Hermès… did we miss something?

4
Reading Time: 3 minutes

The 26 of May marked the announcement of Jean-Paul Gaultier leaving Hermès Couture. I still wonder why.

gaultier hermèsSince 2004, Mr Gaultier brought to Hermès the timeless modern femininity. There are women buying Hermès thanks to Mr Gaultier talent to create the Sublime from simple ideas. Jean-Louis Dumas had the visionary idea to marry the Horse Carriage brand to the  innovative Sailor Marinière (re)inventor. The result of this collaboration was 7 years of beautiful collections where know-how and daring attitude lift up Hermès in the fashion industry.

All the official reports told us that Mr Gaultier wanted to focus on personal projects and that is why their collaboration ended. The Brand announced the arrival of Christophe Lemaire in charge of the Feminine line. His first collection will be Fall 2011.
Mr Lemaire arrived in the Fashion world almost by chance. He was the assistant of great Houses like Thierry Mugler, Lacroix, Patou or Saint Laurent. Since 2000 he was in charge of the creation at Lacoste. His studies in Arts at Art Deco revealed his passion for color and since then he explored this theme in a very successful way. When he arrived at Lacoste in 2000, the brand was the shadow of its past. The green crocodile was not shiny anymore. But with lot of talent, patience and a great sense of color, Christophe Lemaire put Lacoste back on track. But as lots of people say: Lacoste is not Hermès… That is certain.

When Jean-Louis Dumas gave the Artistic lead of Hermès Couture  to Martin Margiela in 1997, all fashionistas were wondering if it was a right choice. When Jean-Paul Gaultier was invited in 2004 to replace Martin Margiela, again, the same fashionistas were still wondering the reasons of such choices. What we can say is that since 1997, Hermès positioned itself as one of the biggest luxury houses in the world. The clever combination of the finest goods, precious know-how and timeless elegance brought the image of the Hermès woman to the top. Lots of women would dye for Lagerfeld, but all of them crave for a Kelly Bag.
Ok, so here is the secret of Jean-Louis Dumas choices of Martin Margiela and Jean-Paul Gaultier : They both know how to sublime women thanks to the cutting-edge of their style. It is not a secret that the first one was the assistant of the second. Hermès revealed one of the most luxury vision of women in all occasions.

christophe lemaireChristophe Lemaire has a huge challenge ahead. He is not a “woman sublimer”. He is more like a “fashion-painter”. I wish I am wrong but until now nothing shows how will he be able to keep the desirability of the Hermès woman. Until then, we should appreciate Gaultier’s last collections at Hermès. Did you say Tablet?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Tablet is a great fashionable word right now. According to Wikipedia, a Tablet is “a pharmaceutical dosage form. It comprises a mixture of active substances and excipients, pressed or compacted into a solid.” We could say that a PC Tablet or a Digital tablet is a mixture of active functions and apps compacted into a solid object. Funny the parallel.

I will not post another iPad article otherwise you might think I am sponsored by Apple 🙂 This week I will give you my alternatives to the iPad. Are there real? yes.

Asus eee padToday ASUS revealed their EEE PAD at Computex. Yeah, I am not joking, the name looks silly (iPad, eeePad…) but the machine it self: not bad. From the Press release we can read : ” The 12″ Eee Pad EP121 is a full-featured slate computer that serves as a multimedia player, e-reader, and compact computing device. Powered by a CULV Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor and the Windows® 7 Home Premium operating system, it effortlessly handles multitasking tasks whether enabling users to check their email and calendars, have video conferences, or process Microsoft Word and Excel documents simultaneously. The ASUS Eee Pad EP121 offers two convenient modes of character input-an embedded virtual keyboard or an innovative hybrid keyboard/docking station design. All of this power is available in a personal computing device that delivers up to 10 hours of usage.  For users seeking additional mobility, ASUS is proud to present the 10” Eee Pad EP101TC that runs Windows Embedded Compact 7, which provides an engaging user experience and delivers

instant connectivity to the Windows world. It also provides a familiar full-featured user experience across various connected devices and cloud computing services.”

What I like in the eeePad, is the fact you can easily connect a keyboard. So it means you can use it as a laptop. It runs under  Windows 7, they talk about a 10 hour battery (I need to see it to believe it).

Let’s see how Asus evolve with this.

We are also waiting for the famous Google Tablet. In deed, last month Google confirmed the creation of a Google Tablet under Android. This tablet will be developed in partnership with HTC. the taiwanese company really wants to get into Google’s strategic products.

They also Google Tablethope to get a leverage among Microsoft and Apple and keep their “supposed” freedom with Android or Chrome OS. We’ve been talking about the Google Tablet for a long time and we can see that Apple is atomizing Google in all ways to keep all the “coolness” for themselves.

But the one I am really waiting to see is the HP SLATE. HP did a very modest launch or perhaps the Apple iPad got it all? This tablet is already announcedHP SLATE as technically superior to the iPad. Check this out :

– Intel Atom Menlow of 1,6Ghz (the iPad= 1Ghz)
– USB Port
– 3M pixels Webcam (I want that!)
–  SD Card Port
HP SLATEOf course there are also weaker points compared to the iPad. The screen is smaller. 8,9″ for the Slate vs 9,7″ for the iPad. Battery is 5 hours vs iPAd 10 hours. In terms of WIFI management, the HP Slate has 802.11b/g vs 802.11a/b/g/n for the iPad.

By the way, Microsoft declared they have abandoned the Microsoft Tablet project called Microsoft Courrier. There is no more comments about Bill Gates company about it, let’s say they have started the race too late.

Do you know other cool tablets?

The launch of Apple iPad is now everywhere. Europe was a final step. England, France, Switzerland, Germany…. all got the iPad tsunami. 2 main questions are popin’up nowadays. Who is buying the Apple iPad and which version between the 3G and the WIFI.

Well IT magazines made different surveys directly in the queues in front of each Apple Store. And here are the results, this being a kind of average between what happened in the USA and in Europe.

The most popular model is the 32Gb 3G.

38% of buyers have a Macbook or a PowerMac
37% have both Mac and PC.
25% only PC

36% were between 26 to 39 years old
26% between 18 and 25 years old
11% were older than 55 years old
27% were under 18 years old or between 40 to 55.

92% were men. Of course no woman can fit the iPad in her purse 🙂

84% were buying for themselves

57% will use it for the net navigation
27% for apps (12% for games only)
9% for listening to music
4% for reading books
3% for watching films and TV

And you in which iPad buyer are you?

Dita Von Teese wears brazilian shoes… Melissa!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

melissa aranhaDo you know Melissa ? In Brasil there is 2 big brands of traditional outdoor shoes. Havaianas and Melissa. The first one is very well know but the second one? Less.
Melissa is a brazilian brand of shoes created by the company Grendene. One of the pioneers in the use of nylon in Brazil. In 1979, this company had the brilliant idea of launching a pair of beach plastic shoes called Spider shoes under the brand Melissa: Sandalias Aranha. This shoe model was inspired by french Divers shoes. It is called “Spider” because of its shape. But in Brazil everybody knows it by the name “Melissa”.

This brand is one of the first brazilian examples of TV Merchandising because they introduced the spider shoe in several brazilian TV soaps beginning of the 80’s. The brand had a continuos growth until the first half of the 90′. It is definitely the symbol of Design popularization. Only in 2000, Melissa was re-discovered

by fashionistas and became fashionable again. People like the Campana brothers or recently Zaha Hadid and Vivienne Westwood.

Since then, you can be sure that each spring-summer fashion week has its number of Melissas. Amazing. Of course, the brand developped new collections, always being loyal to plastic and EVA. Very recently, they even made an audacious campaign with Dita von Teese. It is quite hard to believe that these campaigns is for shoes. We can see the impact of the brand and the fashionable dimension of it. Here some of my preferred photos I found in the FrouFroufashionista blog. Of course because they got Diva Dita it makes a huge difference. She could bring glamour to an insurance company!!! The big question today is about plastic. Should Melissa give up on plastic and use exclusively natural EVA? Difficult to do this because natural EVA is not enough solid to get ou a shoe out of it. So the future will tell.

Versace Mobile phone: boring

Reading Time: < 1

Hi, this week, Versace revealed a Versace mobile phone called Versace Unique. It was developed in partnership with Mobilabs, a expert company on customized phones. Basically, they took a LG mobile phone and they have customized for the brand. Everything looks pretty common, the only cool thing is the sapphire glass, one of the biggest manufactured until now. They have different colors and textures… personally I prefer the black one.

LG has a strong and good reputation but I am not convinced about this brand. I always have the feeling this brand is cheaper versions of the expensive phones. Am I wrong?

Celsius X VII II – a cell phone or a watch?

2
Reading Time: < 1

Le Dix, is a cell phone based in a mechanical tourbillon mouvement. Celsius X-VI-II is a french company based in Paris, founded by 3 young and brilliant people.

> Thomas Pruvot, a mechanical engineer specialised in industrial design,
> Romaric André, graduated from business school, ideal partner thanks to his entrepreneurial mindset and a capacity to take the inherent risks
> Alejandro Ricart, a friend Romaric, contributing the professional skills acquired in a Barcelona consulting company, as well as the fruit of an aristocratic family background.

The first creation, a cellphone merged with a tourbillon watch and an exclusive Remontage Papillon (butterfly winding mechanism), heralds a new generation of objects with high emotional value.

Here is the promotional movie that I like very much. An ambiance like Sin City with a elegant nostalgia hint.

Here are some pictures of this incredible creation.
