How can we survive today during travelling without our electronic devices ? Our iPhones, laptops, gadgets and other Hairdryer can not survive without electricity. The problem is that sometimes (all the times) we have what we could call the “plugin” problem. In deed, each country has its own electric plugs and normally we never know what to find… Things can run to catastropher if we stay more than 2 days without (electric)power.
Thanks god Yves Saint Laurent is here, so they can propose a new luxury Travel adaptor carried in its beautiful YSL pink pouch.

Woody Allen presented his new movie “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger” at Cannes Festival in France. The story is a typical Woody Allen one: “Alfie and Helena had been married over 40 years when he decides to leave and sets himself up as a fitness obsessed bachelor, but things don’t turn out quite as he had hoped and after just a few months, finding himself unbearably lonely he seeks solace in the arms of a beautiful but vulgar prostitute who he soon decides to marry.”
During the different presentations, Naomi Watts presented herself in one of the exclusive Gucci dresses from Premiere Capsule. A gorgeous White dress. She was a white angel of a white madonna. This here is my favorite picture, so glamourous… like an advertising.
Voici d’autres photos, notamment la fameuse montée des marches. LA
Hi, I promised to my self that I would not right an article about the French Film Festival, Cannes. Not that it is not interesting, but basically because the luxury news around this festival is always the same each year. Small brands trying to launch themselves between 2 film projections, starlettes and big stars wearing magnificient dresses and beautiful boys of course… So a little “déjà vu”.
But this year, something different happened. Gucci launched its first Capsule collection. This capsule does not have the vocation of dressing the catwalks, but to please actress in love with the Brand. The Collection is called Premiere, like the first time for a movie and for the Brand. And because Gucci never does things by half, the italian brand chosed Salma Hayek, the Bomba Latino.
A glamourous collection inspired by the Red carpet ambiance. Even Naomi Watts, until now linked to Thierry Mugler (as egerie for its Angel perfume), let herself tempted by a terrific white Gucci Premiere dress. Frida Giannini, Gucci Creative Director explained to WWD this week that the brand does not have a specific strategy behind this move towards Couture, or almost Haute-Couture. For her, this is a more personal kind of action among their biggest fans. I think all the nice Gucci clients would die to wear the “Salma Hayek Dress”. LA
At the end of the month, The Tate Modern in London will open an exhibition called Voyeurism, surveillance and Camera. It treats the role of photography in the definition of Private and Public life. This is a brilliant idea of exhibition, especially because Great Britain is the country who has the biggest amount of surveillance cameras per habitant… Here is what the Tate says about the exhibition:
Photo Garry Winogrand 1969
” Exposed offers a fascinating look at pictures made on the sly, without the explicit permission of the people depicted. With photographs from the late nineteenth century to present day, the pictures present a shocking, illuminating and witty perspective on iconic and taboo subjects.
Beginning with the idea of the ‘unseen photographer’, Exposed presents 250 works by celebrated artists and photographers including Brassaï’s erotic Secret Paris of the 1930s images; Weegee’s iconic photograph of Marilyn Monroe; and Nick Ut’s reportage image of children escaping napalm attacks in the Vietnam War. Sex and celebrity is an important part of the exhibition, presenting photographs of Liz Taylor and Richard Burton, Paris Hilton on her way to prison and the assassination of JFK. Other renowned photographers represented in the show include Guy Bourdin, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Philip Lorca DiCorcia, Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Nan Goldin, Lee Miller, Helmut Newton and Man Ray.

The UK is now the most surveyed country in the world. We have an obsession with voyeurism, privacy laws, freedom of media, and surveillance – images captured and relayed on camera phones, YouTube or reality TV.
Much of Exposed focuses on surveillance, including works by both amateur and press photographers, and images produced using automatic technology such as CCTV. The issues raised are particularly relevant in the current climate, with topical debates raging around the rights and desires of individuals, terrorism and the increasing availability and use of surveillance. Exposed confronts these issues and their implications head-on.” www.tate.org.uk
So if you are in London, do not hesitate to go and Visit the Tate Modern. LA
Is there any limits to rich people? Sometimes we might wonder if their only limit would be the boundaries of imagination.Abu Dhabi is a dream destination. Hotels look amazing… if you are ready to pay the price. Two years ago, The Emirates Palace, one of the most luxurious hotel in the region, offered the most expensive holiday package ever: 1 million dollars for a week formula.
Of course for this price you will have the finest suite. If you calculate, it is only 143,000 $ per day…!
This week, the Emirates Palace innovates thanks to a real Gold vending machine. They are the first hotel in the world to propose such service. In the Hotels hall, you can find a vending machine that will allow you to buy gold, from coins to small 10g bars. More and more vending machines are being used to allow clients to buy anything from anywhere at anytime. In Europe and in the USA we know that we can buy an iPod or perfumes… but Gold… not yet. Once again, the innovation and the extreme luxury ideas came from the Oil Area. The Shiny machine, gold plated itself, is called “Gold to Go”. It offers 320 different possibilities and especially your logo printed on the gold bars… I would buy a gold bar with my name on it! The price of gold, which was up to $1,245 an ounce yesterday, is measured by the machine every ten minutes. So, for a 10g gold bar you will need to pay around 450 US$. Gold To Go was developed by German inventor Thomas Geissler, and the first machines debuted last year in Frankfurt’s Airport. The Emirates Palace is the first location outside Germany to install a Gold to Go machine. Abu dhabi is really part of daily news. After the Louvre museum construction there, the Formula one racing circuit and now this, we can say this city looks for a “golden” future. Abu Dhabi is definitely written in my list of top cities I want to visit.

Great initiative, let’s hope this might give nice ideas to others.
The American Magazine Maxim declared Katy Perry as Hottest Woman on earth this year. This is really making some noise, just before the launch of Perry’s new Album CALIFORNIA GURLS. If you click on the image below, we can ear the new single. The song features rapper Snoop Dogg, and was produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Benny Blanco. This one became quite known as he worked on Britney Spears album Circus, remixed for Kylie Minogue and Justice. So Summer is already here!
Yesterday I was lucky and got a very interesting contact with Laura Noriega, a
Jacobo Munoz
Designer living in Mexico. She gave me access to a very interesting project she co-developped with another young talented designer Jacobo Munoz. The project is called NEGRAS INTENCIONES, The Taste of Luxury. Which in spanish means Dark Intentions, and you will understand the double meaning… It is a full collection of kitchen knives with a handle made of true Obsidian stone.
This is a very provocative, luxury, original collection of knives based on the theme of luxury.
Obsidian is a volcanic black glass, created in the first seconds of a volcano lava blast. Pliny’s Natural History features volcanic glass called “Obsidianus”, so named from its resemblance to a stone found in Ethiopia by one Obsius (wikipedia).
Obsidian was considered as a very valuable stone since the Middle-age because men could easily made objects from it (jewel, blades, arrows….). Today we can find Obsidian close to Volcanos but the biggest producers in the world are South America with Mexico, followed by Japan and USA. Obsidian stone is known for its healing properties. It protects you against depression, blocks negativity and bad spirits. Black stones have protective energies and popular knowledge says it is the stone of the soft hearted and gentle people of the world. We also say that we need to be careful in buying a ancient obsidian jewel, it might be cursed… so Obsidian is a very paradoxal stone, perfect for this knife collection under the tone of provocation.
From their creators : ” Delicate carving from expert hands, perfection and quality of the craftsman, tireless seeker of the best stainless steel, gives way to the subliminal bal- ance of the 7 Sacred Knives of the Negras Intenciones line. The darkness beyond the light and the light melts into the darkness”
7 sacred knives like the seven capital sins…
Chef KnifeFilet KnifeChop Knife
Cheese KnifeBread KnifeDiscord Knife
This collection was manufactured thanks to the exceptional know how of a Mexican Knife maker called José Ojeda and Family, established for 12 generations of Masterful workers of the Metal. You can see his website here.
The concept photographs presents a young men with a knife in his hand and a gentle white sheep close by… naughty situation… diabolically sexy and desirable. Photography taken by Klaudia Estefania, a young mexican photographer. Check her website here and her brilliant Flickr here. So finally the brilliant work of these 2 young designers shows that not only Japanese or Swiss or French know how to make knives, but the young generation succeed to bring the sublime into once’s kitchen. http://www.lauranoriega.net/ http://www.jacobomunoz.com/

2010 saw the birth of a new watch brand called Sonic Watches. It is a german brand based in Mannheim a beautiful city half way between Frankfurt and Stuttgart in Germany. So for Watch fans the first idea here would be to say, watches are only swiss-made or not. So what about Sonic Watches?
Peter Schall, Sonic Watches
Peter Schall, co-founder of this new brand is part of a small group of watchmakers and engineers who decided about one year ago to develop accurate timepieces for professionals and watch lovers. Their passion background is Sea and Sky diving, so from this passionate engineers come up a new technical brand.
Their first star product is the SONIC BARRACUDA 2000. A great piece of art that gets you down to 2000 meters (200 bars) !!! It has a Helium Valve and a Swiss movement from ETA (one of the biggest watch movement suppliers in the world).
> Automatic Helium Escape Valve
> Shock resistant
> Antimagnetic
> Made from solid 316L
> Swiss automatic movement ETA 2824-2 in the certifiable version (ETA quality classification “TOP”)

They have a online shop and a friendly customer service where they promise a 24H answer, which is far more than some brands.
They also have a customization options like you can add your Logo on the Dialing, choose some surface finish and an orange minute hand.
Here are some pictures from the Barracuda 2000: source: sonic-watches.com, all rights reserved.
I tend to believe that Watch making is not only Swiss but sometimes it depends on what we base the speech. Here with the Barracuda 2000, we can see that passionate people got a pleasant need to be filled. What do you think?
