Galerie Du Griffon – The New “Window” of Editions Du Griffon in Neuchâtel.

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Les Editions du Griffon is opening a new space within its historical location in Neuchâtel. The new “window” is called Galerie du Griffon and will be a versatile place for work, exhibitions and encounters. The official inauguration to the public will take place on November 8th at 6:30pm.

For this special occasion, the visitors will be able to attend to the signature of Pierre Yves Gabus autobiographical work “L’homme en Noir ou le roman du renard” at Editions du Griffon. His story reveals little-known facets of his personality and presents his life course in the world of art and antiques from here and elsewhere. His unpublished cut-and-paste illustrations illustrate the work, complemented by an exhaustive list of his exhibitions and auctions.

Les-Editions-du-Griffon

The location of Les Editions du Griffon and now this new gallery, has a great interest as it is placed in the historical building of the edition house. It has been 50 years that Les Editions du Griffon occupy this very interesting concrete cube in the heights of Serrières in Neuchâtel.

This concrete cube of 400 M2, very discreetly implanted in the city will have several vocations:

  • Offices of the Griffon Editions.
  • Exhibition venue to promote Griffon activities
  • Bookshop of Editions du Griffon.
  • And soon artist residency.

This building, designed and built in 1969 by the famous Neuchâtel architect Beate Billeter was entirely made of concrete, making this work of remarkable architectural interest. Now the building was specially redesigned inside to highlight and show works of art to a public of visitors, as part of temporary exhibitions. This new cultural space in the canton of Neuchâtel is resolutely oriented towards international and local contemporary creation.

Six years ago, Mr Julien Gonzalez-Alonso took over Les Editions du Griffon. After being the Director of  a major contemporary art auction house in Paris, Mr. Gonzalez-Alonso decided to put himself at the service of contemporary creation. And that is how he became a book publisher. He had at heart to be an actor of creation by supporting authors, artists and institutions. For Mr Gonzalez-Alonso, books are about transmission, sharing, generosity, memory and eternity. Les Editions du Griffon is reborn and every year there will be an effort made to publish valuable and beautiful art books.

How to Wear Boots the Right Way

1
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Boots-fashion-guide

Boots have been around for a very long time, and they have stayed popular for many centuries. They are useful and fashionable, and they are made of many different types of materials. Some are made of leather and others are made of suede. Some are waterproof such as rain boots, and others have been designed strictly for style. They were created to offer protection for the legs and feet and have been made of wool, cotton, silk, furs, and felt.

For women, boots are a sexy way to accentuate the legs while still providing a practical shoe. They are easy to dress up or worn with and look great with a skirt or over a pair of jeans or leggings. There are many different ways to wear a stylish pair of boots, and they go with pretty much any outfit that you can create from the clothes in your closet. Bots are very practical.

Boots are a fall favorite, and there are so many variations of this type of footwear. There are flat, pointed toe, ankle, wedge, over-the-knee, and even cowboy boots. You should have at least one out of every “category” so that out will be prepared for every occasion.

A cape pairs well with a pair of brown Two24 handmade leather boots. They also go well with a pair of skinny jeans. A dress also looks good with a pair of boots. A pair of black ankle boots go well with a form-fitting dress, and you could also throw in a leather jacket to tie it all in.

Boots-fashion-guide-best-shoes

Leggings and a furry pair of boots go well together, and you could combine a pair of black skinny jeans with a pair of black boots for a sleek and elongated look. A long coat over a mini skirt with long boots is a cute look, as well. The trick to pulling off your look is to pick a few key pieces. You want to think about what you want the focal point to be and build your outfit around that.

Boots are not just for the ladies either. There are many different styles and variations for men as well. Men need to follow a few rules as well to look good and to pull the look off just right. There are many very stylish ankle boots that come in a variety of colors and textures, as well as materials such as leather and suede. It is best to pair a nice pair of ankle boots with a rolled up cuff or skinny jeans.

The desert boot is a comfortable and lightweight boot that’s perfect for fall days and they pair well with a blazer or suit. It’s ideal to try and match the color of the boot to the blazer or suit to really make the look work. The work boot pair well with skinny jeans since the bulky shape of the boot goes well with a slimmer pant style.

When shopping for boots it is always best to go shoe shopping in the afternoon when feet aren’t as swollen. You should also wear the socks that you would most likely be wearing with your new shoes, and be sure to try on both shoes since both feet are not exactly alike.

Another factor to think about is the heel size of the boot. A good rule of thumb to go by when considering heel size is to stick with lower heels if you are considerably tall and to go for the slightly taller heel size if you are vertically challenged. That way you are not looming over everyone else, and you will level your height to get the right effect.

If you get leather boots, you will need to keep them looking good with some maintenance. Leather will soften up with use and can be susceptible to damage from water and dirt. You will need a small leather care kit that you can make yourself, or you can just buy a premade one. It should include a stiff brush to scrub dirt off, a soft cloth, detergent, leather polish, and a shoe protection spray. Aim to treat your shoes every couple of months. If you have suede shoes, you will want to spray them with a protectant spray as well.

Suívie: Healthy Energy For Your Life – The Power Of Erva Mate

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Suivie-erva-mate-tea

Suívie is a Swiss-Brazilian venture that stands for a healthy, balanced lifestyle, combining the best of two worlds: the vibrancy and “joie de vivre” from Brazil with the quality and purity from Switzerland. This month LuxuryActivist tried 2 main products from Suívie:

  • The Suívie Lemon and Hibiscus Ice Tea
  • The Suívie Tea – Erva Mate, Cinnamon, Star Anise and dried apple

SuívieIt all start with Erva Mate…

Erva mate is used to make a tea beverage known as mate in Spanish and Portuguese. But the drink is called other names in Portuguese, such as chimarrão and tererê/tereré when served cold. In English, the tea is frequently just called yerba mate. It is traditionally consumed in central and southern regions of South America, primarily in Paraguay, as well as in Argentina, Uruguay, southern and central-western Brazil, the Chaco region of Bolivia and southern Chile. It is also popular in the Druze community in Syria and Lebanon, where it is imported from Argentina. Eva mate was first cultivated and used by the indigenous Guaraní people and in some Tupí communities in southern Brazil, prior to European colonization.
Ilex-paraguariensis-erva-mate

Suivie-tea-plant

When Erva mate is harvested, the branches are often dried by a wood fire, imparting a smoky flavor. The plant Ilex paraguariensis can vary in strength of the flavor, caffeine levels and other nutrients depending on whether it is a male or female plant. Female plants tend to be milder in flavor and lower in caffeine. They are also relatively scarce in the areas where erva mate is planted and cultivated. Brazil is the biggest producer of mate in the world with 513,256 MT (58%), followed by Argentina with 290,000 MT (32%) and Paraguay with 85,490 MT (10%).

Erva-Mate-tea-chimarrao

The infusion, called mate in Spanish-speaking countries or chimarrão in Brazil, is prepared by filling a container, typically a gourd, up to three-quarters full with dry leaves (and twigs) of the mate plant, and filling it up with water at a temperature of 70–80 °C (158–176 °F), hot but not boiling. Sugar may or may not be added; it may also be prepared with cold water (tereré).

Drinking mate with friends from a hollow gourd (also called a guampa, porongo or mate in Spanish, cabaça or cuia in Portuguese, or zucca in Italian) through a metal straw (a bombilla in Spanish, bomba in Portuguese), refilling and passing to the next person after finishing the few mouthfuls of beverage, is a common social practice in Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and southern Brazil among people of all ages. Eva mate is a symbol of health, natural energy and friendship. Suívie takes the best of this tradition and create an interesting future for this treasure of nature. All Suívie products are based on the Brazilian green tea Erva Mate, grown in the forests of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Suívie also uses other ingredients such as hibiscus, cardamom or the noble fruit of Jabuticaba, originate from sustainable cultivation in small farms.

Erva Mate is on top of many people’s mind because today’s people preoccupation is a lot related to their wellbeing. Eva Mate is a natural source of energy as well as of many nutriments. Eva Mate is known for the following ingredients:

  • Xanthines: These compounds act as stimulants. They include caffeine and theobromine, which are also found in tea, coffee and chocolate.
  • Caffeoyl derivatives: These compounds are the main health-promoting antioxidants in the tea.
  • Saponins: These bitter compounds have certain anti-inflammatory and cholesterol-lowering properties.
  • Polyphenols: This is a large group of antioxidants, linked to a reduced risk of many diseases.

SuívieThe best of nature in modern beverages

The Swiss-Brazilian brand, Suívie, has a fantastic choice of products that will amaze you by the natural, healthy approach of tea and a modern usage of it. Taking the best of tradition and nature at the service of the modern world is just perfect.

I really enjoyed trying the Lemon and Hibiscus version. The sparkling freshness blends perfectly with the tasteful tea facet. Served very fresh, it  is  for sure a great healthy alternative to many other beverages.

Of both intense and enjoyable perfume, and even with a fruity, slightly sweet flavor, the infusion has a gentle stimulating effect. This blend holds a strong digestive capacity due to the presence of malic acid of the dried apple, fortified through its combination with anise. The cinnamon on the other hand, exerts great thermogenic potential that assists in the well-functioning of our metabolism. this is perfect to enjoy prior or after meals. I find the blend of Star Anise, Mate and Cinnamon a true healthy bomb! With the arrival of cold days, our body seeks help to fight the cold, some illness going accros the streets and we find comfort in a hot beverage.

Suívie also has other products you might want to discover. They are all carefully prepared to deliver the best that nature has to offer. Everything is done properly in order to preserve the natural properties of erva mate. Here are some of their other products:

  • erva mate / hibiscus / sweetwood
  • erva mate / casca de jabuticaba / cardamom
  • erva mate / peppermint / camomile

Two Luxury Home Updates to Enhance Your Life

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Luxury-interior-home

Your home is the place that your whole life revolves around; it is the place where you can relax, entertain friends and family, live with someone you love, and maybe even raise a family. Aside from the basic functions of your house, it should also be a place where you get to feel like your best self and truly make the most out of the time you have away from the busy rat-race of the working week. To help you to recapture some of the luxury your home has the potential to have, this handy guide will walk you through two essential ways that you can add the glamour back into your home.

When your house is looking its best, you will feel like the greatest version of yourself and ready to face anything, which is why it is so vital that you take on board the advice of this guide to create the perfect home you deserve.

Keeping things fresh

natural-home-fragrance-perfumed-candle-reed-diffuser

First things first, when you walk through your front door you want to be greeted by a feeling of freshness and not the musty smells of laundry and leftover washing up. An easy remedy to this is to visit Pairfum.com and have a browse through some products that will not only smell great but look gorgeous as well! Having a perfumed botanical is a great way to introduce a sweet, soothing scent to your home that has the added bonus of looking like an elegant and sophisticated artwork. Furthermore, scented candles and reed diffusers scattered around the rooms of your home will ensure that everywhere you go will be fragrant in all the right ways.

A home as unique as you are

Whether your weekend is just being spent curled up on the sofa with a good book or you’re hosting a dinner party for all of your friends, finding a simple way to make the interior of your home unique and visually interesting is key to having a luxurious setting, no matter what the occasion. To this end, one simple update that will have your home feeling like a high-end art show is by getting wall decals. While using what are essentially stickers to spruce up the place might not seem all that fashionable, by taking a quick look at some wall decal ideas, you will quickly realize that this is a sure-fire way to make the spaces you entertain in look as though you’ve hired a top of the range interior designer.

Following on from this, one of the most important rooms in your home is the bedroom, and there are many ways to make your bedroom feel luxurious that will enhance the time you spend in there. One simple way is layering. By investing in some velvety scatter cushions and a fun, patterned throw, you will instantly elevate your bedroom to a swanky, comfortable boudoir.

Taking the time and effort to add luxurious items and touches to your home will enhance your life by making you excited every time you get to walk through the front door.

Three Luxury Ways to Enhance Your Next Vacation

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Luxury-Travel-guide

Vacations are already a luxury that more and more of us around the world are starting to enjoy. Add on top of these lowered travel costs with increase choice in accommodation and even destinations, and your vacation can be anything you want it to be. You can have a truly luxurious getaway, and that definition of luxury can be entirely yours at nearly every budget. All you need is a bit of prep, a touch of creativity, and to follow this guide:

1.    Choose a Unique and Luxurious Home-Away-From-Home

There is so much more to travel than hotels. Today, you can rent out a vacation home or luxury apartment just as easily and in many cases for less than you would a luxury hotel. Though there are often no amenities like a continental breakfast or room service, you don’t really need them. Order in and enjoy takeout, or go out for a nice dinner instead. Just remember when choosing your home away from home that it ticks all of your boxes for uniqueness, aesthetics, and price.

2.    Make Your Travel Experience Part of the Vacation

Your trip doesn’t start when you land, either. By improving your experience at the airport, you can set the right tone for a luxurious trip thereafter:

–       Have a fancy dinner

Tasty food and drink are how you can stimulate your senses and enjoy a luxurious experience no matter where you are. By having a fancy dinner (most airports have these options now), you can skip the airplane food and be ready for your trip to begin.

–       Look great and feel great

Airplane acne is a real thing, and even if you don’t experience any breakouts chances are you will be sweaty and feel less than stellar by the time you get off the plane. By wearing layers, items that don’t show sweat patches, and bringing face wash and a moisturizer, you can get back to looking and feeling great in no time.

–       Know your rights

There is nothing luxurious about delays, but you can prepare yourself in advance so that you can stay calm. If you are traveling to Europe on a European airline, for example, you could receive a healthy sum of compensation for your delay. Just remember to visit the front desk to receive a copy of your rights, a possible food or drink voucher, and to contact FairPlane at the end of your trip to receive your compensation sum.

Luxury-blogger

3.    Budget for Your Definition of Luxury

There are different interpretations on what luxury is. It could be an around-the-clock spa treatment just as easily as it can be climbing to the top of Mount Everest. The point is to know what you love and to budget for it. If you are a total foodie budget for great meals. If you love to shop, or the beach, make sure your trip includes these activities.

You deserve to have a luxury experience no matter what your budget is, and you can by following these easy tips.

Creating a Luxury Christmas Break

0
Reading Time: 3 minutes

christmas-guide

Everyone has different ideas and expectations when it comes to Christmas. While some see it as a magical time of the year, for others it may be about bonding with family. Another thing that Christmas can be is luxury if you want it to be. There are many activities you can do in this respect whether it be fine dining or indulging in high-end self-care. It’s also possible that you do so without having to put a dent in your pockets if you plan ahead and think about it. See how you can create a luxury Christmas break below.

Go to a Warm Destination

Granada-luxury-belek-houses

While some people are inclined to stay in their city during Christmas holidays, others are open to traveling out. For those who are amongst the latter, think about going somewhere with sunshine during the Christmas break. A nice destination to consider is Orlando, Florida. It’s a perfect destination if you want both fun and luxury simultaneously. You could decide to stay in a five-star hotel and spend a day at Disney World so that the kids can burn all of their energy. Alternatively, try going to Oman if you want luxury and culture. Some things to do there include going to the opera house as well as visiting beaches and exploring museums. It may be relatively expensive to travel in December as it’s peak period, so look for deals and book as early as you can.

Take a Trip to the Theater

If you haven’t been to the theater in a while, Christmas is a great time to go. It’s an opportunity to pull out one of your most classic numbers and spend a night on the town. The good thing about theaters is that they’re perfect for both a date night and a family night out. There are so many different shows to choose from that fall into various genres which means that there’s something for everyone. Some shows that you could decide to watch are Snow White or Aladdin if you’re going with kids or the Phantom of the Opera if you’re going alone.  It’s advisable that you do a search online for shows in December 2018 and book as far in advance as possible if you don’t want any disappointments.

Got to the Spa

Spa-for-christmas

Who says you can’t dedicate Christmas to relaxation? Why not go to the spa before, on or after Christmas day just to get your body in tip-top shape and get the Christmas glow that you need. A spa and health treatment that is said to work is spending time in the sauna as it’s apparently good for relaxation. Other benefits of the sauna are increased circulation as well as reduced muscle soreness and joint pain. You should also opt in for a massage if you want to give yourself some TLC in addition to masks that will nourish your skin.

Christmas is what you make it, so try and do things that make it count this time around. Luxury is something that’s difficult to forget, so without losing sentiment, see how you can have the most luxury Christmas yet.

BYREDO Is Taking Over London And Paris – Stores Opening

Reading Time: 2 minutes

BYREDO is deploying its worldwide strategy by getting a strong footprint into the luxury retail. This fall the Swedish, Parisian based brand is opening a store in London and in Paris. A beautiful brand for beautiful people in beautiful places.

BYREDO London – 42 Lexington Street

Byredo-London

The London flagship store is an important milestone for the brand retail deployment. The 200m2 store has 2 floors that allow to showcase all BYREDO products

The place itself is a beautiful address. Lexington street is originally a fashionable district for the aristocracy, it has been one of the main entertainment districts in the London capital since the 19th century. The building where BYREDO is placed, is a beautiful historic post-Georgian building erected in 1885 and was completely remodeled by Ben Gorham and Swedish architectural design studio Halleröd. The interior design of the store reminds us the original design already established in the New York store:

  • Aluminium
  • Terrazzo
  • Plaster
  • Glass blocks
  • Oak, American walnut and Alder woodwork

When asking Ben Gorham, BYREDO founder, about this opening, he declares:

I always imagined BYREDO would have a store in London, you could say this project is ten years in the making.” said Gorham.

BYREDO-LEXINGTON-STREET-LONDON

BYREDO Paris – 199 Rue St Honoré

After London, here is Paris calling. BYREDO has chosen the most chic address in the French capital, Rue Saint Honoré n.199. Now that Colette is gone, hype is back to Saint Honoré.

Byredo-paris-saint-honore Byredo-St-honore Byredo-Paris-Shop

By launching such a point of sales in Paris, BYREDO reinforces its presence in the French capital. Already present at Galeries Lafayette and recently opened a pop-up store as well, BYREDO shows its ambition and intention to become a strong outsider in the world of beauty, fragrances and fashion accessories. By starting with London and Paris, the brand associates itself with Fashion weeks and the natural connection Ben Gorham has with the world of fashion. A very clever launch strategy.

Vacheron Constantin Pre-SIHH 2019: Les Cabinotiers

0
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Cabinets-Cabinotiers-Geneva

Creativity never sleeps. This fall, Vacheron Constantin is revealing 2 amazing novelties that will be presented during the 2019 SIHH in Geneva. The two following timepieces are a beautiful tribute to Geneva watchmakers who used to work in the roof tops of buildings. Their workshops were called “Cabinets” and the watchmakers working there were named “Cabinotiers”.  Here are the full details for these two intriguing watches.

Pre-SIHH 2019: Les Cabinotiers Grand Complication Phoenix

vacheron-constantin-mo-les-cabinotiers-grand-complication-phoenix-sihh2019 vacheron-constantin-mo-les-cabinotiers-grand-complication-phoenix

Vacheron Constantin has a long tradition in perpetuating the “Cabinotiers”. This is how prestigious watchmakers were named when they used to work on the top floors of Geneva’s buildings. These artists used to get inspiration in nature as well as in science and the whole creative universe would bath in the light of the Enlightenment century. They dare to craft exceptional timepieces of rare technical and aesthetic complexity: a beautiful blend of science and art.

Vacheron Constantin continues to take on these highly technical and creative challenges within its Les Cabinotiers department, which gives rise to one-of-a-kind models intended for clients and collectors, along with specifically commissioned bespoke timepieces. Engineers, designers, watchmakers and craftsmen unite their imagination, expertise and passion in bringing this extremely refined watchmaking excellence to life, as is vividly testified by the new one-of-a-kind Les Cabinotiers Grande Complication Phoenix. The legend of the never dying bird inspired Vacheron Constantin for this watch. A symbol of immortality that inspired the creators of this watch and its 15 complications.

  • Perpetual Calendar
  • Equation of Time
  • Sunrise and Sunset
  • Sky Chart
  • Seasons
  • Signs of Zodiac
  • Age and phase of the moon
  • Solstices
  • Sidereal hours and minutes
  • 58 hours Power reserve
  • Minute repeater
  • Tourbillon
  • Hours, minutes and seconds

The numerals and hands stand out clearly against the slate-grey colour of the two dials on either side of the watch, beautifully offsetting the pink gold case. The optimal legibility of this complex model is also ensured by the layout of the additional counters and the various time indications.

To power this fantastic watch, Vacheron Constantin has chosen the Caliber 2755. This manual-winding movement endowed with a 58-hour power reserve is dedicated to the particularly sophisticated models of the Manufacture – and notably those in the exceptional Grand Complication category to which this one-of-a-kind model belongs.

Last but not least, lets underline the outstanding engraving work of this watch. Les Cabinotiers Grande Complication Phoenix pays a beautiful tribute to engraving art techniques that only few artisans master at this level of perfection. The “bas-relief” orchestrated in the watch case band is astonishing by its details.

Pre-SIHH 2019: Les Cabinotiers minute repeater tourbillon sky chart

Ably meeting the highest technical, aesthetic and artistic challenges, the one-of-a-kind Vacheron Constantin models currently created by its Les Cabinotiers department – heir to this prestigious history – delight the most demanding Fine Watchmaking connoisseurs, as vividly illustrated in Les Cabinotiers minute repeater tourbillon sky chart.

There is a very elegant contrast in this timepiece. In one side, a beautiful luminous bezel and lugs set with baguette-cut diamonds. In the other side, a deep and pure black dial punctuated by baguette-cut diamonds hour markers and a magnificent central guilloché pattern.

The hidden gem is located in the back of the watch case. An enhanced sky chart appears in the case-back. You will be able to see the night sky above Geneva, the Milky way and constellations of stars that shine brightly as if viewed through a telescope. From a technical perspective, the celestial panorama performs one full spin on its axis in precisely 23 hours and 56 minutes, corresponding to the precision of sidereal time.

To drive the various functions of this extremely technical watch, Vacheron Constantin’s watchmakers chose to develop a new manual-winding movement specifically dedicated to its Les Cabinotiers collection. Endowed with a 58-hour power reserve, it is inspired by the famous Calibre 2755 reserved for the particularly sophisticated models of the Manufacture, notably its exceptionally Grand Complication timepieces.

In conclusion, Vacheron Constantin maintains a certain tradition alive. By caring about heritage, the Swiss watch manufacturer builds the future and pleases the fans of beautiful timepieces around the world. The Cabinotiers were during the enlightenment century a true force of creativity and technical mastery who allowed great steps forward to the Swiss watch making industry. More to come during the SIHH 2019.

Corine Stübi is the organizer. Her passion for Design and furniture brings her to create crossroads between design lovers and great artists. Being the co-founder of kissthedesign in Lausanne, she felt there was a need for a more personal event, away from the over-dimensioned international design fairs. Design is about passion and we need places where passionate people can meet and share what they love.

Corine-Stubi

Le Salon du Design is also about promoting a human-sized and reassuring event, where curatorial work has already been done, with only the most established brands on the Swiss market, as well as the best European addresses. Indeed, only professionals specialized in 20th century design were invited.

In this second edition, there will be new things to be discovered. First of all: more brands and exhibitors. Ten stands more than in the previous year. There will be more countries represented by talented people and as special guest: the MUDAC, the Lausanne Design Museum will present an exhibition about Bauhaus.

The Monaco Yacht Show is the place to showcase new and exciting yachtie technologies, and with diving an established yachting hobby it’s no surprise that this year’s show was filled with tools to help us dive better. After all, when you buy or charter a luxury yacht, it’s not just the boat that you want – it’s the entire lifestyle. And for anyone who’d like to up their watersports game, a little help from gadgets can go a long way. With that in mind, we trawled Port Hercules to bring you three of the best diving tenders & toys Monaco Yacht Show 2018 had to offer.

Discover our favourite new diving tenders & toys – Monaco Yacht Show 2018 delivered some amazing finds…

1. An underwater scooter to thrust you into the deep

The SEABOB is a diver’s best friend, propelling you to great depths with minimal effort. Crafted from precious metals which are resistant to saltwater, this innovative range of submarine thrusters allows you to move like our ocean-dwelling friends, speeding through the water and providing some great opportunities for capturing underwater imagery.

Using an energy-efficient environmentally-friendly electric motor, this impressive toy can take you up to 40 metres deep at a top speed of 20km. At the Monaco Yacht Show, we discovered the range of SEABOBS including the low-weight F5, the ultra-high performance F5 S and the most powerful of all, the F5 SF. The range begins at €8,000.

2. This year’s must-have diving watch

The show’s sponsor Ulysses Nardin came up trumps with its special Monaco Yacht Show Diver Chronometer watch, a vision in titanium and rose gold. This new toy is the perfect combination of practical meets beautiful, promising water resistance all the way down to 300m. This makes it a great accessory for freedivers, who like to travel with as little equipment as possible but always need to keep track of their time in the water.

On sale for 12,000 CHF, the watch is more expensive than Ulysses Nardin’s usual pieces, but for the exquisite design and the cachet of carrying this latest creation it’s worth it. However, as it’s a limited edition there are only 100 pieces available, so if you want it you’d better move fast.

3. A top-of-the-line tender to take you to your next diving spot

For reaching those harder to reach diving spots, it’s time to dismount from the yacht and hop onboard a tender. And if you’re diving with a group of friends, have limited time to get from A to B, or simply love jetting around on a powerful tender, look no further than the new Brabus Shadow 800.

Regarded as one of the most exciting tenders & toys Monaco Yacht Show 2018 had on display, the 11.2-metre Shadow 800 is an ultra-fast, ultra-luxurious day boat, with speeds of 50 knots and a beautifully sleek design. The vessel has room for 12 guests onboard, and each boat can be highly personalised to the owner. What’s more, if you are lucky enough to get one of the 20 collector’s edition tenders (as on display at the show), your purchase will come with a Garmin Quatix 5 marine watch that can control the Shadow’s autopilot function. Prices start at €397,500.
