Safaris have been a popular holiday choice for tourists from around the world for a few decades now. Being able to explore and stay in the heart of a game reserve lets you get as close as possible to the nature and wildlife around you.

However, if you are looking to safari like the rich and famous do, you will be looking for a lodge that is far more luxurious. Here are a few of the most luxurious safari destinations in the world.

Londolozi Private Granite Suite

The first place you need to consider is the Londoloza Private Granite Suite at the Kruger Park in South Africa. Pack your best outfit, digital camera, and hiking boots because this suite is well worth the effort.

These suites are enormous and feel like an entire home as opposed to a suite in a hotel. With beautiful views and the sounds of the wild around you, it is easily one of the most luxurious locations in the world.

Angama Mara

Perched on the edge of a mountain, Angama Mara in Kenya almost doesn’t seem real. The suites offer visitors inside and outside living, with the areas separated by huge floor to ceiling windows.

The lodge is also on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, making it the perfect place to explore the surrounding land and see all of the animals and creatures that call the valley home.

Sasaab Samburu

Another incredible resort that can be found in Kenya is Sasaab Samburu. Found outside the Samburu National Park, the area is not only packed with local culture and heritage but also offers a wide abundance and variety of animals, creatures, plants, and trees.

The area is also home to the Samburu Special Five, which includes the reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope, and Somali ostrich.

Puku Ridge

Puku Ridge, found in the South Luangwa National Park, is one of the best-kept secrets in Africa. The lodge offers visitors some of the most exquisite views and sights you could imagine, as well as amazing walking safari trails.

Considering it is a relatively unknown lodge, visitors can enjoy crowd-free visits and, more importantly, crowd-free safaris. It is a lodge that makes you feel embraced by nature, as opposed to one that makes you feel like you are simply looking at it.

Thorntree River Lodge

Thorntree River Lodge is considered one of, if not the most indulgent and luxurious resort in all of Zambia. Found on the calm banks of the Zambezi River, Thorntree feels like an oasis in the middle of the warm, dry landscape.

This eco-friendly resort has found the balance between natural and modern architecture, with the large riverside suites offering guests breathtaking views of the water all year round.

Singita Sasakwa Lodge

There is no chance a list like this would be complete without a few lodges in Tanzania. Singita Sasakwa is a century-old manor house that has been transformed into a luxury getaway in the heart of the Grumeti Reserve.

Not only does the exclusive resort offer visitors a crowd-free experience from start to finish, but there will often be times we can you be on your own with nature and the animals that live in it.

Jao Camp

Another area that has to be added to this list is the Okavango Delta. The Jao Camp is found on a private island in the delta and offers visitors very spacious suites; and also does its best to blur the lines between staying in a resort and being outside entirely.

Jao Camp may be another name you haven’t heard of before, but it is considered as one of the best retreats in all of Botswana by both locals and regular visitors.

Singita Kwitonda Lodge

Anther Singita Lodge, Kwitonda, can be found on the edge of the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. The lodge and country don’t only offer visitors spectacular views and animal sightings, but it is also has something very unique.

The Rwandan jungles are home to several troops of gorillas, and with a lot of walking and trekking and even more patience, you may be able to catch a glimpse of these elusive but beautiful animals.

Little Kulala

Namibia is another country that is often overlooked by visitors; however, you shouldn’t make the same mistake. Not only is it filled with otherworldly landscapes, but it also has its fair share of luxury resorts.

Little Kulala, found in Sossusvlei, is a getaway like no other. It offers visitors eco-friendly quad biking and hot air balloon safaris, as well as acting like a desert oasis.

Singita Faru Faru

Finally, Singita Faru Faru is another beautiful lodge perched on a hillside overlooking the Gremeti. What sets Faru Faru apart is its access to a watering hole, allowing visitors to watch the elephants, giraffes, and other animals take a drink throughout the day.

Not to mention that Faru Faru boasts some incredible rooms and suites that will leave you feeling like you are one of the rich and famous. There is nothing quite like enjoying a glass of wine while watching the elephants frolic.
