Life in Monaco measures up to all the superlatives, so it’s no wonder the world’s wealthiest call it home. Millionaires make up more than 30 percent of the population, and the Principality has the highest standard of living in the world.

Here are some of the reasons why living in Monaco is so appealing.

Luxury property

Exclusive addresses include the world’s most expensive street, Avenue Princesse Grace in Larvotto, the Principality’s easternmost ward. Monaco continues to be the most expensive place to buy residential property worldwide, with an average price per square meter of more than 47,000 Euros, according to the Monegasque Real Estate Observatory report. Living in Monaco in a luxury residence brings with it all the features one would expect, from stunning penthouses to spectacular spas, enhanced security and the utmost in privacy.

Private travel

Though the small Principality does not have an airfield, private jets can land at either Cannes Mandelieu or Nice Côte d’Azur airports, where a chartered helicopter can whisk you to Monaco’s heliport in Fontvieille.

Cruising the coast of the French Riviera is a favourite pastime, and many UHNW individuals choose to moor their superyachts at the exclusive Yacht Club of Monaco. The renowned marina in Port Hercules is one of the few deepwater ports on the French Riviera. Its 700 berths can accommodate the largest superyachts in the world.  A new state-of-the-art marina in Ventimiglia, Italy, 79 nautical miles from Port Hercules, provides easy access to Monaco for smaller yachts.

Proximity along scenic roads to the luxury locales of Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, as well as the Italian Riviera, is just another reason why living in Monaco is so appealing.

Lavish events

Prestigious events are also among the highlights of life in Monaco. Every September, the Principality hosts the Monaco Yacht Show, billed as the world’s greatest superyacht event. The not-to-be-missed Monaco Grand Prix and ePrix are held in late spring, and March brings the elegant Rose Ball, established by Princess Grace in 1954, to open the international events season. Among the cultural highlights is the acclaimed Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1856, featuring some of the world’s greatest musicians.

With more than a half-dozen Michelin-star restaurants, including the exceptional three-star Le Louis XVI-Alain Ducasse at the iconic Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Monaco is known for its fine-dining options. The Principality is also home to the first organic restaurant to be awarded a Michelin star: Elsa at the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel.
