Thanks to a good holiday season, Swiss watchmakers ended up the year at -9.7%. It could have been much worse. The segment of +CHF 8’000 were responsible for the biggest part of these negative results with -11.6%. Watches between CHF 500 to CHF 3’000 only decreased by 3.9%. As we know, Baselworld is one of the main events for the Swiss watch-making industry. Every year all the Brands have appointment with the world. And even if this event is supposed to be a Professional event with no activities to the public, it gathers more and more attention. This year, we will discover a new Baselworld. Full new with a new main building, new stands and brands. It was a huge investment and apparently it is better than never.
