Baselworld 2016 – on time with Hermès

Baselworld 2016 – on time with Hermès

Hermès is probably one of the golden crowns of French luxury. Established in Paris in 1837, Hermès forged its reputation for excellence crafting saddles and harnesses for horses. With this extremely precise and highly qualitative know-how, the French House extended its leather-making expertise to accessories such as belts, jackets, bags and, from the 1920s, watch straps. Then, Hermès got more and more interested in watch-making and by learning from the best horlogers in Europe ans especially in Switzerland, they decided to create in 1978 La Montre Hermès SA. They opened production facilities in Biel, Switzerland and a ln entire watch collection followed. Hermès watches are classically elegant with a hint of contemporary innovation. Every year, th French Luxury House innovates from a technical point of view as well as from a poetic statement. Every Hermès watch is a poem, an unique timepiece that will create a special relationship between the…

Hermès Dressage L’Heure Masquée, singularity and innovation

Hermès Dressage L’Heure Masquée, singularity and innovation

Hermès reveiled a new amazing timepiece in their theme Le Temps de l’Imaginaire.. It is called Dressage L’Heure Masquée, hidden hour in French. And again, it is purely poetry. Here time is translated into an imaginary and poetic approach. Almost philosophical. Hermes pushes the interaction between the watch and the owner of the watch. The person can play with his timepiece and create a special relationship. In 2011, Hermes won the Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie Geneve with Le Temps Suspendu. The concept was that the watch owner could stop the time whenever he wanted. With this new launch, it is the opposite, the mirror complication. It is also the idea of “time on demand”. Hermès already surprised us last year with the amazing Arceau, Le temps suspendu. This time, Hermes, as a magician of time, will help you picking up your chosen moments. How? By hidding from you the part…

Russian luxury market, so what?

Russian luxury market, so what?

Since the ex-URSS disappeared, many brands, especially the luxury ones have been trying hard to make good money in Russia. Luxury shopping malls in Moscow were built and many companies installed subsidiaries there. But are they really making money? What is the luxury industry status today? Until the global financial crisis of 2009, the luxury market in Russia was at the level of 8 billion dollars. Since the crisis stroke hardly many of the industrial countries, this figure was basically cut by half. Since the Perestroika, luxury brands developed and built local owned-flagship stores in Moscow and St. Petersbourg. With the crisis many shops closed down and most of the brands regrouped in one or 2 big department stores. 2 main luxury import distributors have shared the internal market since the 90’s: Mercury and Bosco di Ciliegi. They also control TSUM and GUM department stores respectively. But the real problem…

New 2012 luxury Spring bags – horrible!

Color is a big theme for luxury handbags since last fall. Color blocking went all over the place and some brands like Prada definitely became the ambassador for color blocking. Now that Spring is coming, most of the main leather accessories brands presented their new collections. OMG, OMG, they are horrible. They all look 80’s style and we have the feeling that Brigitte Nielsen is coming back! OK, Spring is a good time for using vivid colors but this season, the ugly club is out! Let me guide you through a small tour. DIOR: It would be great… 20 years ago. The brands introduces a collaboration with the artist Anselm Reyle.
