A new engine for an automobile brand is like giving birth to a new child. It represents a long time effort, know-how, talent, and research. Therefore it does not happen every day, week, or year. This year Maserati is revealing a new engine called Nettuno and it definitely represents a new chapter to the Italian company. Fasten your seat belt, this is a monster-engine alert.
The new engine is the beating heart of the MC20 super sportscar that will make its world premiere in September. The unit was designed at Maserati’s Modena facilities: the Maserati Innovation Lab on Via Emilia Ovest, the workshops on Via Delle Nazioni (Maserati Corse’s historic base), and developed at the Engine Hub, situated at the famous Viale Ciro Menotti address where it will be built. Currently, the new production line and new paint shop are being modified to host the much-anticipated MC20.
The new engine is a back to the origins of the brand and its know-how. It is 100% made in Modena which is the historical location since 1939 of the brand and the current technical facilities.
The new engine is the result of a technical revolution, one protected by international patents. The project was born from the passion and commitment of a team of highly-qualified technicians and engineers. After twenty years, Maserati has once again enthusiastically taken on the challenge of returning to its Modena HQ with the development and production of a new, highly-technological, high-performance engine. And trust me, it is a street beast.
The new “Made in Modena” engine, a traditional 90° V6, has been taken to unheard-of power and torque levels and will be used for the first time on the MC20 super sportscar. The MC20 will take Maserati back to the world of racing for sure.
The new engine is an ambitious design, which represents a historic moment for the company, a new era that will officially start on September 9 and 10 in Modena during the big event “MMXX: The Time to be audacious”. At this launch, new models that will go into production in the coming years will be unveiled, and innovative propulsion systems, as well as ambitious programs developed by the Casa del Tridente, will be announced. To put it simply, the engine can be analyzed through 3 different facets:
The pre-chamber: a combustion chamber is set between the central electrode and the traditional combustion chamber and connected by a series of specially-designed holes.
Lateral sparkplug: a traditional sparkplug acts as a support to ensure constant combustion when the engine is operating at a level that doesn’t need the pre-chamber to kick in.
Twin injection system – direct and indirect: linked to the fuel supply pressure at 350bar, the system reduces noise low down on the rev range, lowering emissions and improving consumption.

Despite the complex year for everybody, Maserati is writing history in 2020. With this new engine and the launch of the new Maserati MC20, the Modena automotive brand is shaping its future with a long term vision.
With the new Maserati MC20, the brand reconnects with its racing heritage and allow future customers to understand the past to better embrace the future. The MC20 model will be the first to receive the new powerplant, but Maserati has hinted that the engine will subsequently become available in other models as well. We expect to see the brand return to the world of racing thanks to the MC20.

L. Erwan Kern is a comet. He is always in motion, he writes his own trajectory and when he appears in our sky, it is with a thousand lights that he ignites our imagination. Multi-disciplinary artist, songwriter, singer… he is a true artist. He navigates between several universes. He has many lives and this time he brings us a friend. With the creation of the Bonbon Noir project, we are going to meet Anita Black. She is a true hero, despite herself, and her adventure begins in a psychedelic universe. You can read our analysis of the project here. For LuxuryActivist.com, L. Erwan Kern took part in the exclusive interview game. And everything becomes clearer.
LuxuryActivist (LA): Dear L. Erwan Kern, who are you? How was the project born? L. Erwan Kern (LEK): L. Erwan Kern, I am a Breton and Belgian commuter… and the creator of Bonbon Noir. Bonbon Noir was born at the end of our last tour with our indie group Flying Pooh. I decided to write a short story that we would do the soundtrack. We started to compose. After two years of writing, an editor read the text and recommended that I go further. Anita Black deserved a novel. So we have simultaneously developed the musical universe, the story, and all illustrations. Sleepless nights of research to create the book’s universe, to be sure not to make mistakes, of anachronism… and other nights to mix… Four years later, a first LP, 11-inch vinyl, a rare, precious format was launched. An illustrated book. All crafted with beautiful papers, beautiful manufacture to respect those who will enter the world of Bonbon Noir and Anita Black. But we want to go further. A second LP arrives at the end of 2020. And we want to launch an audiobook, and above all to make a film … Crowdfunding ulule will help us achieve this goal, it’s a real springboard for us. It allowed us to open our cabinet of curiosities: vinyl collector, serigraphs, novel… We are at 130% of the goal, we aim for 200%, we want to make the audiobook and the film.
LA: Bonbon Noir seems to be a project that is both unique and multiple. How would you define this project? LEK: I see Bonbon Noir as a mansion, a door opens to the curious, the bored, the creative, or the optimistic. I see no limit to creation around this universe. I hate “labels”. We are free of everything … We could create jewelry, perfumes, a vinyl, a novel, spirits … As long as it corresponds to the story, as long as there is the beauty of the gesture and a grand finale, we do not ban anything! Everything created with Bonbon Noir must be “crafted”. We looked for the best Printer for the printing of covers and illustrations, the best vinyl engraver to be certain of the rendering, … Each object must be unique, whether sound or physical, beautiful papers, beautiful textures. A cabinet of curiosities, where one will want to return.
LA: It seems that everything started after meeting with Anita Black. Is it right? How was it born? What were your inspirations? LEK: Bonbon Noir was to be the story of a young girl who was going through the turn of the last century. Just a few pages, a piece of adventure designed to get away for a few moments. Then the heroine ANITA arrived and started to grow. And she took me away. Her anxieties, her encounters, her chaotic destiny but above all her fury for living and her thirst for learning helped me to continue writing about her life. I didn’t spoil her, but the friendship, the love, the dramas, and the horrors that fill her BLACK BONBON notebook reflect a life passionately devoured. Some people who read the text saw a feminist fresco there. I rather see Anita’s life as a humanist destiny. A fight for freedom, whatever the cost. I hope you will take the hand she holds out to you. After all, she’s the one who tells the story. My wife and daughter are great inspirations. My mother also, sorts of. Being a woman is a struggle even today. I have read portraits, testimonies. Those who fought to be free, those who shone in the shadows, who were behind the “great” men, those who tried to survive … I have always been fascinated by these characters who transcended, and who carried impossible battles. Too often these roles have been assigned to men.
LA: If Anita Black met a young girl looking for meaning in her life today, what advice would she give her? LEK: To begin with, she would tell her to make it her goal to go to bed every day less stupid than the day before. It involves listening, observing, culture, and taking charge of your life, not following the crowd, making your own choices, letting your imagination wander, not living the dreams of others. It’s her shapely head that will ultimately save her life. And her will, her rage to live, then the desire for total freedom, no matter the price to pay. Neither God nor master. Never let go.
LA: The project became an album, a podcast, and a film. What makes the universe of Bonbon Noir so unique? LEK: I don’t know if it’s unique. However, there is only one ANITA BLACK. Audiobooks or other concept books don’t usually go that far. There you have several autonomous elements that form a very rich universe. The novel – whether you like it or not – is a true novel and the soundtrack is a stand-alone album. These are two separate works under the same hat. Everything has been thought of to live alone, and yet those who will read the novel and then listen to the music will really travel. We will unleash the imaginary. We didn’t want to put together two small creations to make an average of them, but two crazy things to make a grandiloquent project… epic…
LA: What was the most difficult aspect to manage in the birth of such a project? LEK: The hardest part is finding the time to do everything and not giving up despite the difficulties. I work on Bonbon Noir as soon as I have a few moments of freedom. These are precious moments that I steal on a daily basis. I know the privilege of it so I try to use it as best I can. The hardest part is keeping the energy of the project. For music, it’s easier to bounce back since there are four of us in the group. For writing, you are alone. I had the chance to meet Nathalie Thery, an editor who took me by the hand and who allowed me to go further and start the fire again. But clearly, the hardest part is finding time, the new luxury …
LA: The music album has been released on all official platforms. Why did this universe between Morricone and David Lynch become obvious? LEK: Rec, the artistic director of the original soundtrack for Bonbon Noir is a multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer. He is passionate about peplums, great cinematographic themes. Performing epic melodies to accompany Anita’s life was natural for us. Pink Floyd, Gainsbourg, Tarantino, Lynch… are the references that came up a lot during the first listenings of journalists and bloggers. We are delighted and proud. This album makes you travel if you listen to it with your eyes closed. It was really the goal.
LA: With the crowd-sourcing initiative and the distribution of the album on digital platforms, how is the internet key to this project? LEK: The Internet has allowed us from the start to create a link with our fans … and Bonbon Noir allows with its visuals, music, and texts to have a universe perfectly suited to social networks. I have been working with illustrators on the Bonbon Noir project for four years. I have dozens of illustrations, roughs, graphic ideas. I kept everything, listed everything. The first sketches, the first rehearsals, the first video montages. I have hard drives filled with research for the Bonbon Noir project. It’s my treasure. The Internet is the perfect place to present it, and I would love to show my bible to Netflix, Apple TV, or Canal plus when they knock on my door!
LA: How do you see the project evolving? LEK: The first volume of the novel goes into print now. Music is everywhere, vinyl is on sale on our site. The illustrations are shown on our social networks. The first stone is therefore laid. I will do everything to transform the novel into an audiobook. I’m looking for an actress who can play Anita Black. A broken voice, à la Romane Bohringer, or Anna Mouglalis, would be perfect. And just after that, I want to make a film. Bonbon Noir must become a film. It is written for …
LA: What can we wish you for the future? LEK: To gather even more energy around the Bonbon Noir project, to start the production of the film … The door is open, all the curious, the!, The directors, the producers, the actors, the crazed, all the creatives … Anita Black’s mansion is open! Welcome to Bonbon Noir!
Bonbon Noir is launched and nothing can stop it. When passion and talent find their way and the universe proposed is so attractive, we can only ask for one thing: more!

2020 will not finish to surprise me. Hopefully, we get good surprises. There is one project you need to follow, and this one is Bonbon Noir. In the beginning, it is hard to define it. Is it a book? Is it a music album? A podcast or a film? Well, the beauty of it is that you cannot define it with one single definition. Crowd-sourcing platforms like Ulule was utilized to leverage the required investment. Bonbon Noir is pure creativity with strong roots and the imagination orbiting into a planet that we could describe Psychedelic and definitely Rock & Roll.
With Bonbon Noir, L. Erwan Kern, artistic director, and singer of the rock group Flying Pooh, creates a collaborative project and surrounds himself with talents of all kinds to give birth to a multidisciplinary and multifaceted artistic work.
Bonbon Noir: It All Starts With A Good Story (Always).
First things first. Please meet Anita Black. We are back in New York, December 1929. Until that night, Anita’s life was simply magical. Her father disappears in a tragic fire inside their book store. Her life has a shifting moment right there, right now. From her mother’s memories of a past decade made of passion and craziness, now to an era of challenges and cruelty, Anita Black will live, fight and feel her new life that is starting just now.
“We couldn’t save anything. My mother and I are oddly dressed: a long winter coat opens over a nightgown blackened by ash and a pair of leather high boots (…) She screams speechless, extinct, stiff, empty. the Twelve strokes of midnight resonate. We are in 1930. Let the celebration begin” – Anita Black
Bonbon Noir, The Music Album
This artistic project ha multiple facets and this week, it is the release of the music album. Considered as the story soundtrack, you will deep dive into this psychedelic and rock atmosphere and your journey will take you to unsuspected places. The album is called “And So Be It Anita” and here is the tracks list:
Grand Opening
An Absolute Beginner
Bullrock Island (feat. Lady Damiot)
Recknox’s Lament
Shadow in the Sails
And so Be It Anita
What can we say about the album? It was created as a journey into a psychedelic world. Built as a soundtrack, And So Be It Anita will take you by the hand and Anita Black will whisper into your ears her story and above all, her version of the story. There is a true sound in this album. From Tarantino to David Lynch, down to Ennio Morricone and even Serge Gainsbourg, Bonbon Noir crafted this album as a piece of fine art. Full of contrasts, And so Be It Anita is elegant, trash, rock and pop, electro and acoustic…. There is a hypnotic aspect that makes you day-dream.
As the single ‘An Absolute Beginner’ perfectly illustrates, “And So Be It Anita” is cinematic, bucolic, sometimes frightening and influenced by the epic themes of Morricone, David Lynch and independent cinema. It is also dark, vibrant and full of energy.
As for music, we could say that this is a psychedelic soundtrack with a stuffy side at times. When you listen to music and know the music, automatically, you see things differently. There is a little David Lynch side to it in some songs… But not only that. And So Be It Anita contains its dose of psychedelic measures, notably on the first single that we released, “An Absolute Beginner”, which evokes in a very cinematic way the life of a wacky Scottish professor and cocaine addict.
For sure, this album is far away from the FM radio standards and that is what makes it interesting. You can listen to the album in all good streaming platforms
Bonbon Noir is a multi-facetted project snd to understand the full power of it, you need to check all the elements. You will quickly see how Bonbon Noir universe is unlimited. The novel sets the foundation for everything. But it is not a standard novel. Each page you turn, gets you into the soundtrack. Therefore a beautiful Vinyl is to be launched, almost as a piece of art. It will be a collector’s musical object, almost like a curiosity. All details will be taken to the ultimate level: beautiful 300gr paper, embossing, accompanied by exclusive illustrations, 150 numbered copies signed, 4 pages sheath cover, and gold etching.
But the project does not stop here. There are already other elements to be added to. Bonbon Noir and his creator L. Erwan Kern are thinking about a film and a podcast. For LuxuryActivist.com, he accepted an exclusive interview that you can read here.
Do not hesitate to visit the official project website as well as the crowdsourcing platform:
Embark on a mystical trip, a musical and sensory epic adventure. Let yourself be carried away into the world of an extraordinary woman. She opens her door to you, just cross it but be careful…. it is fully addictive.

When it comes to Japan’s capital city, you’ll find an exciting mix of innovation, technology, and tradition. While this melting pot of attributes is usually associated with the wide variety of attractions on offer, Tokyo also boasts a diverse collection of places to stay.
For most people who think about unique accommodation in Tokyo, their minds will be drawn to capsule hotels. These hotels, which feature rows of pods for people to reside in after a busy day of exploring the city, are certainly a culture shock for newcomers. Yet they’re only a drop in the creative ocean.
To demonstrate this, here are five examples of quirky and cool hotels you can stay in during your trip to Tokyo.
Henn na Hotel
What do you get when you combine a hotel with robots and dinosaurs? Answer: the Henn na Hotel! No list of quirky Tokyo hotels could start without highlighting this one, which sees guests receive assistance from robot dinosaurs. These dinosaurs greet you at the front desk and, despite the reputation they’ve developed from Hollywood films, provide Japan’s signature hospitality.
This also extends to, well, every area of the hotel. You won’t see any human staff members – you’re served entirely by robots. Each room also contains a robotic butler.
Hotel Gracery Shinjuku
If you’re a fan of Godzilla, the popular Hotel Gracery Shinjuku is the choice for you. The 8th-floor patio has a display with a life-sized sculpture of the famous movie monster’s head, perfect for those seeking a memorable Instagram snap.
Also, make sure to book the Godzilla room for the ultimate experience. This room has a huge Godzilla claw adorning the wall, and you even receive a Godzilla-themed goodie bag for surviving the night.
Mandarin Oriental Tokyo
When you think about luxurious hotels that are inimitably cool, few can match the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo. The contemporary and spacious rooms set the scene, with incredible views of central Tokyo on offer. The lavish shared spaces are perfect for unwinding, and several on-site restaurants serve delicious fine dining cuisine.
The only issue with this hotel is the cost. Although if you want to experience the life of luxury for one day at least, quickloans are available to offset the sky-high price!
Train Hostel HOKUTOSEI
On the opposite end of the price scale is this delightful little hostel. Dormitory-style accommodation isn’t for everyone, admittedly, but the style of the property is something that draws attention from all quarters. This is because Train Hostel HOKUTOSEI utilizes reused components from sleeper trains. So if you’ve ever fancied sleeping in a stationary train, this is an ideal option.
If you have never stayed in a hostel before, Hostel World has put together the top tips for staying in one for the first time.
Lotte City Hotel Kinshicho
It’s easy to see the appeal of staying in a biscuit-themed hotel, which is what makes Lotte City Hotel Kinshicho a popular pick with travelers. This property takes inspiration from Lotte’s Koala March biscuits, with charming room decorations – including biscuit-shaped cushions – and unique breakfast offerings.
Yet the hotel also avoids being overly kitsch. In fact, it features a stylish design that has universal appeal for those unsavory, non-biscuit lovers.

You do not wear a Mugler fragrance by chance or randomly. Mugler perfumery signature is unique and its creations are true innovative fragrances that some of them created a whole olfactory trend. There was a before Angel and an after Angel in the perfumery industry. With the launch of its first fragrance, Mugler set the tone of its olfactory universe. Paradox and contrasts are the tools of perfumers to shape the universe of the brand. This year, Mugler is launching Angel Nova. It is a new fragrance for a modern heroine who makes her dreams come true and reality a dream. Angel Nova is the fragrance of the Ultra-femininity! Not like usually we would see in the social standards but a modern vision of women: powerful, self-confident, independent, and hell-sexy! Beware of Angels!
https://youtu.be/BUpp0r18eu0
28 years after the launch of the original Eau de Parfum, Mugler can reinvent itself and prove the unlimited boundaries of the brand universe. As always, Mugler never compromises on the choices for the product, taking the very best of what nature, human creativity, and technology have to offer.
Mugler Nova: Live up to your dreams!
With the launch of this new Eau de Parfum, Mugler brings a new stone to the wall of its brand fundamentals. Angel is a fragrance franchise that takes your reality and transcends it into your wildest dreams. While connecting to your inner-nature, Angel literally satellite you into the orbit of sophistication, sexiness, and self-confidence. It is like wearing a Mugler jacket: it will give you allure, you will feel different and act differently.
Mugler Nova is a promise. It is a promise of a new world in which you are the heroine and the master of your destiny. You dream it, you get it. The name is a very clever one and bears the promise of brand commitment. By calling the new fragrance Angel Nova, it immediately drives us to a galaxy of stars. A supernova is the brightest moment on the life of a star. No matter how ephemeral that moment shall be, the star will shine ten times more than she has ever shone. It is also a powerful name, striking, simple to understand and that does not require big efforts to translate.
It is also the Feminine nominative singular of Latin novus (“new”). The feminine is used since stella (“star”) is feminine; thus nova is a shortening of nova stella (“new star”), first used in this sense in 1573 by Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. It all makes sense as Angel Nova is a new star in the Mugler galaxy.
According to Christophe De Lataillade, Head of Creation at Mugler, it all starts with the star, this loyal companion. Angel was always a woman’s story. This woman embarks on a journey that she will not regret. The star is a guide and a lucky charm to lead the Mugler woman to her destiny in which she is free, she can decide her own fate and express her feelings.
Mugler Nova: The fragrance
As I said in the beginning, you do not wear a Mugler fragrance by chance and like any other fragrance. There is a true statement and interesting chemistry on the skin that sublime the moment. When smelling the fragrance this is what I retained. It is a Floral and woody structure with a strong fruity facet. Every time Mugler introduces a floral olfactory structure in their perfumery work it is not that usual and generally brings an interesting tension to the power of the fragrance.
“A captivating Eau de Parfum created from the thrilling fusion of a delicious fruity scent, an exclusive Mugler rose, and powerful, modern wood. The dazzling combination of pleasure and self-affirmation, thanks to a fruity, floral, and woody Eau de Parfum.” – Mugler
In the firsts seconds when you spray the fragrance, you sense the promise of a never-ending story about femininity. The first notes of fresh and juicy raspberry provoke an extreme feeling of femininity and dynamism. Thanks to this Raspberry start, the transition to the floral rose heart is fully accomplished.
Rose is by far one of the most complicated olfactory themes in perfumery. Why? Because basically everything was already created, found, and done. The challenge is enormous. How to reinvent such a blockbuster theme like Rose? Well, Mugler will always find a way. Simple? Not at all. Behind each Mugler creation, there is a dream team of talents that will give everything for the sake of creativity and originality. We tend to say that for a Perfumer career, signing a Mugler fragrance is the accomplishment of a lifetime. So how did Mugler create a new Rose? With the help of the best talents in natural ingredients, extraction methods and let’s be honest, with a lot of guts, they came up with a new way of extracting and blending the Rose notes. It is all about double extraction.
The Damask rose gets the first distillation of its fresh petals. From this distillation, we obtain a natural elegant rose scent quite close to what you can experience by smelling the heart of a fresh flower. And then, here is where the magic operates: The perfumer collects the utilized petals from the first distillation and proceed on extraction by volatile solvents. The obtained substance is a more deep, sensual almost animalistic facet of the rose. The combination of this double extraction creates a new horizon for the rose treatment. This provides a vibrant yet rich floral heart to this fragrance.
Our story ends with a fantastic woody blast. Woody notes always procured a lot of charisma to feminine fragrances. In Angel Nova there is a very interesting duo of Akigalawood and Benzoin. The Akigalawood is a synthetic note providing a reminiscence of Patchouli (one signature ingredient from the original Angel fragrance) with a sparkling facet of pepper and the texture of agarwood. It is not the first time Mugler utilizes this note that provides a strong modern and bright structure to the fragrance. The addition of Benzoin resin witnesses of the Mugler olfactory signature and provides this modern sensuality, far away from clichés.
Angel Nova is a fragrance created by a fantastic trio made of Louise Turner, Quentin Bisch, and Sonia Constant. They all know very well Mugler as they all signed already great fragrances for the French brand. It is almost a family success story.
Angel Nova: Toni Garn is the face of this new star.
The engaged German actress and model Toni Garrn perfectly embodies Angel Nova: stunning, confident, powerful, and in charge of her own destiny. She is a very successful fashion model but not only. In 2014, she became an ambassador for Plan International’s global Because I am a Girl campaign and has hosted and co-hosted several fundraising events in support of Plan. In February 2016, Toni Garrn established the Toni Garrn Foundation, which aims to raise money for projects advocating for and advancing girls’ rights.
In one galaxy-themed image, Toni is seen holding a pink glass perfume flacon up to her face, while in another she is depicted standing on a large star and gazing into the distance. She creates her own world and fights for women’s empowerment.
“I think dreams are really important in our lives. I would love for there to be less borders in the world. I think it’s ridiculous that some people in the world are not given the same chances, opportunities, and rights as others because they were born in a certain place.” – Toni Garrn
In the world of today, where consumers expect a true commitment from luxury brands, it is also required a lot of authenticity and relevancy. Here we have the perfect example of a good alignment.
Angel Nova: The Flacon As A New Rising Star
Many people ask me why I say Flacon and not a bottle? I could try to find some strange justification buried in the sands of history but honestly, I just believe that a fragrance “glass container” should receive the due respect of such amazing glasswork and know-how. Therefore I cannot call it a bottle, I rather stick to the French word “Flacon”. By having visited the Mugler glassmakers, I can tell you that creating a Mugler flacon is not at all a piece of cake. It is again, an achievement of a lifetime. The iconic Angel flacon dresses in new graduation of colors reflecting the amazing olfactory contrasts.
Angel Nova Eau de Parfum is available in a refill flacon. A sustainable approach with a flacon that provides the bare essentials, designed as a star-shaped flacon that can be refilled when empty. Thanks to the refillable flacon, your ANGEL NOVA Star flacon becomes an endlessly refillable fragrance. You can order online or purchase from the store the refills and refill your star yourself at home.
With this new launch, Mugler reinforces once more the foundations of the Angel myth. The iconic fragrance universe seems endless and each time we think Mugler has done everything, they open a new door and new horizons appear.

The Maison Veuve Clicquot has remained faithful to its motto: “uneseule qualité́, la toute première“. Madame Clicquot was a daring and innovative woman. Nicknamed the great lady of Champagne, she took over the reins of the Maison in 1805 and became one of the first modern businesswomen. Her vision and innate sense of the French art of living continue to exist today in the House which bears her name through its remarkable collection of champagnes, which includes the emblematic Carte Jaune.
The Veuve Clicquot know-how, under the direction of the Cellar Master Didier Mariotti, is based on four essential elements:
The predominance of Pinot Noir
The addition of precious reserve wines
The terroir in which the vineyard is located and prolonged aging
Wines
Each champagne thus represents in its own way the Veuve Clicquot style, perfect balance between power, aromatic intensity, freshness, and silky.
Summer is here so let’s enjoy great moments with beloved ones. The new Clicquot’cino cocktail will for sure be the star of terraces. Do not hesitate to taste it and you will adopt it until the end of summer (if not more).
Cheers,

Eternity rings and infinity rings sound similar, but the two are different in their design. Their intent is identical, that is, to profess everlasting love. One of them is an option for your engagement ring while the other is an extra ring.
What is an Eternity Ring?
An eternity ring consists of diamonds all-round the band, symbolizing commitment and undying love. The eternity ring is sometimes given to brides together with an engagement or wedding ring. The ring is given later into the relationship or marriage or in commemoration of an anniversary.
In terms of traditional rings, a diamond eternity ring is new in the field. The British company De Beers happened to be the same company that started the craze for engagement rings in the 1930s first created it.
You can quickly get a diamond engagement ring with paving stones around and underneath the band, but it still does not make it an infinity ring. The head holding the centerpiece diamond in place has been fixed to the band, preventing the diamond from forming a circle. Traditionally, this ring is different from an eternity ring.
Traditionally, the wedding ring is worn on your left hand on the ring finger. You wear it first, so it is the closest to your heart. If you want to wear all the rings on the same finger, you wear the engagement ring, then last, the eternity ring.
What is an Infinity Ring?
An infinity ring has the same significance as an eternity ring. It symbolizes eternal love. Instead of the endless diamond circle, the infinity ring has a design that has the infinity sign or figure 8, which signifies infinite love. The infinity sign can be added into an infinity ring in different ways. Some rings incorporate the infinity symbol at the ring top where the center diamond should go. Others jewelers make the infinity symbol from the band and some couples prefer this shape, and most prefer a silver infinity ring over the other metals.
Which Finger Should the Eternity and Infinity Rings be worn?
Some traditions dictate that you should wear infinity rings on the 4th finger of either hand. This is not the appropriate standard of wearing infinity rings. You may decide to wear the ring on whichever finger on either hand. You can wear it on the same hand you wear any other rings as a fashion statement.
An eternity ring is worn on the ring finger of your left hand alongside your engagement and wedding ring. The eternity ring is worn between the wedding ring and the engagement ring. You can wear the ring any way you please, as long as you are comfortable with it.
When to Give an Eternity or Infinity Ring
Traditionally, it would be best if you gave eternity and infinity rings to the significant other when the first child is born or during your 10th anniversary. The rings can also be given as a:
Birthday present
Valentine’s day gift
Christmas gift
Metal to Use for Infinity Rings
You can use a variety of metals for an eternity or infinity ring such as:
Platinum is one of the hardest precious metals, is hypoallergenic, scratch-resistant and the most durable.
Gold which is the most pliable of the metals and must be mixed with other metals because it is too soft when pure.
Palladium is lighter than Platinum and is hypoallergenic and resists tarnishing. Palladium has excellent workability and is the best metal to fashion.
Sterling silver has an excellent finish. It has the appearance and qualities of most precious metals such as luster, reflectivity and malleability.
Titanium is resilient, tough and affordable. Titanium is hypoallergenic, lightweight and resists damage, as it does not bend. Titanium cannot be resized due to its strength.
Conclusion
Eternity and Infinity rings can be given to significant others during special occasions such as the birth of a first child or a 10th anniversary. These rings hold sentimental value to the giver and the receiver. They can be made from various metals such as gold, sterling silver, platinum or palladium.

It was big news in the world of chocolate. A new type of chocolate was born: the Ruby chocolate and its pink color. We can see it everywhere and the press is talking more and more about it. Created by the Swiss chocolate company Barry Callebaut, it started a big buzz and nobody really knows exactly what it is. Is it a new cocoa species? Chocolate with red berries? Is it natural or artificial? We can read everything and its contrary. Here is what we know and that seems to be the truth about the Ruby Chocolate.
Ruby Chocolate: It all started back in 2017
The Swiss Chocolate maker Barry Callebaut created a big buzz back in 2017 when he announced the creation of natural pink-colored chocolate that he would name “Chocolat Ruby” or Ruby Chocolate. This Swiss chocolatier owns the famous Cacao Barry brand, world n ° 1 in cocoa, and would have obtained this unusual color by using only cocoa beans of a special variety called “Ruby”. Without coloring or flavoring added, this novelty would be according to its creators “the fourth type of chocolate”, after dark, white and milk chocolate.
Today Barry Callebaut is commercializing Ruby chocolate in different manners and they have a whole catalog of products made from this new type of chocolate and they have also made consumer studies showing the interest of this new variety of chocolate.
What is Exactly Ruby Chocolate?
Like grapes for fine wines, cocoa beans are influenced by the terroirin which they grow. Ruby cocoa beans are grown in Ecuador, Brazil and Ivory Coast as they have similar environments. To find the right beans Barry Callebaut developed a test that can identify if the sourced beans meet the required specifications to produce the 4th type of chocolate, ruby chocolate. More than 10 years ago, one of Barry Callebaut cocoa experts discovered that components of certain cocoa beans could produce chocolate with an exceptional flavor and color.
To unlock the properties of the ruby bean and create ruby chocolate, the full production process from the cocoa bean to the ruby chocolate is carefully managed. Fermentation, temperature, conching time and the acidity level are key process parameters.
For any type of chocolate, the process and the different steps of manufacturing are key for the end result. You cannot find chocolate per say in nature. We obtain chocolate after a complex manufacturing process that unlocks the colors and the flavors that are naturally present in the cocoa beans. This is key. To call it chocolate no artificial ingredients are allowed.
“Ruby chocolate is the biggest innovation in chocolate in 80 years. Made from the Ruby cocoa bean, it’s a completely new chocolate experience”. – Barry Callebaut
Barry Callebaut bring natural ingredients together during the process of ruby chocolate making. No berry flavor, nor pink color or any colorants are added. Obviously Barry Callebaut will not reveal the secret recipe to produce this chocolate but there are still some things we did find. When you have a look to the patent, here is what we discover:
Patent number: US9107430B2
Inventors: Arnaud Dumarche Philippe Troplin Herwig Bernaert, Paul Lechevalier, Herve Beerens, Alex Landuyt
Current Assignee Barry Callebaut AG
Abstract: he invention relates to acidified cocoa nibs, wherein the nibs comprise at least 20 mg/g of polyphenols, preferably more than 30 mg/g of polyphenols, most preferably from 40 to 60 mg/g of polyphenols, cocoa refiner or expeller flakes, liquor, cakes, and cocoa powder obtainable from the nibs and a process for producing cocoa-derived material, comprising the steps of (i) treating cocoa nibs obtained from beans or seeds which have a higher polyphenol content than fermented cocoa beans with an acid; and (ii) optionally drying the nibs.
It seems that Barry Callebaut uses citric acid in order to reveal color and flavor. It is a very well know effect. We all add lemon juice to meals and desserts in order to unlock extraordinary flavors. Citric acid is naturally present in a large variety of fruits and vegetables.
According to standards set by the Food and Drug Administration, ruby chocolate must contain a minimum of 1.5% nonfat cacao solids and a minimum of 20% by weight of cacao fat. It may contain antioxidants, spices, and other natural and artificial flavorings, however, these ingredients cannot mimic the flavors of chocolate, milk, butter, or fruit, and it cannot contain additional coloring.
Let’s be clear. The cocoa bean plant utilized to produce Ruby Chocolate is not a new variety or species than the ones already used to produce Dark, Milk, or white chocolate. The selected cocoa beans to produce ruby chocolate have the specific natural characteristic that after a determined manufacturing process unlocks certain color and taste.
What Ruby Chocolate taste is like?
Ruby’s fruitiness and slightly sour profile unlock creative ideas for confectionery, cakes & pastries, biscuits and many more. And with its all-round fluidity, ruby chocolate is perfect for a wide range of technologies, ranging from confectionery molding and enrobing, to pastry mousses, etc.
The chocolate is characterized by a taste that has been described as slightly sweet and sour, which is comparable to that of berries, as the chocolate’s main characteristic is its acidity.
Ruby chocolate’s delicious, intense berry flavor also works well with the most unusual combinations. From salted caramel, spices like pepper, or herbs like rosemary, to unexpected ingredients like wasabi or exotic fruits such as lychee or mango, the possibilities are endless. Food lovers will be delighted with the variety of dishes and drinks that ruby chocolate can accompany: bold cheese like Roquefort or Camembert, caviar, rosé champagne and wine, fruity beers, and even green tea or saké.
Iconic Chocolate Brands Are Launching Products Based In Ruby Chocolate
Innovation was always a massive focus in the food industry. Therefore brands started getting interest in this new variety of chocolate. The first big hit for Ruby chocolate was KitKat in Japan and South Korea. Nestlé decided in 2018 to launch a new variety of KitKat, all pink. It was a big hit in those markets.
In the beginning of this year, another tremendous brand announced the release of a ruby chocolate variant of one of its iconic products: the Magnum ice cream. The world wide renowned ice cream bars are now dipped in a ruby chocolate cover.
Chocolate is by far one of the most consumed ingredient in the world, either in chocolate bars, desserts and derivative products. Now the Chocolate industry can count with a fourth variant that will add an additional pleasure to the palate.
